[मार्क] राघवस तु ससौमित्रिः सुग्रीवेणाभिपालितः वसन माल्यवतः पृष्ठे ददर्श विमलं नभः ॥ ३-२६६-१ ॥
'Mārkaṇḍeya said, "Meanwhile, the illustrious descendant of Raghu, accompanied by his brother and graciously hosted by Sugrīva, remained on the slopes of Mount Mālyavat, gazing each day upon the vast, clear blue sky."' ॥ 3-266-1 ॥
english translation
स दृष्ट्वा विमले वयॊम्नि निर्मलं शशलक्षणम गरहनक्षत्रताराभिर अनुयातम अमित्रहा ॥ ३-२६६-२ ॥
'And one night, as he stood atop the mountain, gazing at the radiant moon in the cloudless sky, surrounded by planets, stars, and constellations, that slayer of foes was suddenly stirred by the cool breezes.' ॥ 3-266-2 ॥
english translation
कुमुदॊत्पल पद्मानां गन्धम आदाय वायुना महीधरस्थः शीतेन सहसा परतिबॊधिथ ॥ ३-२६६-३ ॥
'Laden with the fragrance of lilies, lotuses, and other blossoms of their kind, the breeze suddenly stirred him, awakening a deep remembrance of Sītā.' ॥ 3-266-3 ॥
english translation
परभाते लक्ष्मणं वीरम अभ्यभाषत दुर्मनाः सीतां संस्मृत्य धर्मात्मा रुद्धां राक्षस वेश्मनि ॥ ३-२६६-४ ॥
'And the virtuous Rāma, his heart heavy with sorrow at the thought of Sītā’s captivity in the demon’s abode, spoke to the heroic Lakṣmaṇa at dawn, saying—' ॥ 3-266-4 ॥
english translation
गच्छ लक्ष्मण जानीहि किष्किन्धायां कपीश्वरम परमत्तं गराम्यधर्मेषु केतघ्नं सवार्थपण्डितम ॥ ३-२६६-५ ॥
'Go, Lakṣmaṇa, and seek out that ungrateful king of the monkeys in Kiṣkindhā— a wretch of his race, who is wise only in his own interests and even now lost in indulgence.' ॥ 3-266-5 ॥
