जातस्पर्धास ततस ते तु तपसे धृतनिश्चयाः बरह्माणं तॊषयाम आसुर घॊरेण तपसा तदा ॥ ३-२५९-१५ ॥

'Seized with jealousy, they resolved to undertake austerities. Through the most severe penances, they sought to gratify Brahmā.' ।। 3-259-15 ।।
