वरः कुरूणाम अधिपः परजानां; पितेव पुत्रान अपहाय चास्मान पौरान इमाञ जानपदांश च सर्वान; हित्वा परयातः कव नु धर्मराजः ।। ३-२४-९ ।।

sanskrit

'They said, 'You are the chief of the Kurus and the king of us, your subjects! How can you leave us, O just monarch, abandoning all these citizens and the inhabitants of the land, like a father abandoning his sons?'' ।। 3-24-9 ।।

english translation

varaH kurUNAma adhipaH parajAnAM; piteva putrAna apahAya cAsmAna paurAna imAJa jAnapadAMza ca sarvAna; hitvA parayAtaH kava nu dharmarAjaH || 3-24-9 ||
