जुह्वत्य अग्नौ हविः कषीरं मन्त्रवत सुसमाहिताः बराह्मणा वेदवेदाङ्गपारगाः सुदृढ वरताः ॥ ३-२३९-२१ ॥

'And Brahmins of firm vows, well-versed in the Vedas and their branches, with focused minds, poured libations of clarified butter and milk into the sacred fire while chanting potent mantras.' ॥ 3-239-21 ॥

english translation

juhvatya agnau haviH kaSIraM mantravata susamAhitAH barAhmaNA vedavedAGgapAragAH sudRDha varatAH ॥ 3-239-21 ॥

कर्मसिद्धौ तदा तत्र जृम्भमाणा महाद्भुता कृत्या समुत्थिता राजन किं करॊमीति चाब्रवीत ॥ ३-२३९-२२ ॥

'And when the rites were completed, O king, a wondrous goddess emerged from the sacrificial fire, her mouth wide open. She stood forth and said, 'What am I to do?'' ॥ 3-239-22 ॥

karmasiddhau tadA tatra jRmbhamANA mahAdbhutA kRtyA samutthitA rAjana kiM karòmIti cAbravIta ॥ 3-239-22 ॥

आहुर दैत्याश चतां तत्र सुप्रीतेनान्तरात्मना परायॊपविष्टं राजानं धार्तराष्ट्रम इहानय ॥ ३-२३९-२३ ॥

'And the Daityas, with hearts well pleased, commanded her, saying, 'Bring hither the royal son of Dhritarashtra, who even now observes the vow of starvation to end his life.'' ॥ 3-239-23 ॥

तथेति च परतिश्रुत्य सा कृत्या परययौ तदा निमेषाद अगमच चापि यत्र राजा सुयॊधनः ॥ ३-२३९-२४ ॥

'Thus commanded, she departed, saying, 'So be it.' In the twinkling of an eye, she reached the spot where Suyodhana was.' ॥ 3-239-24 ॥

'And carrying the king to the nether regions, she brought him there in an instant and informed the Danavas of his arrival.' ॥ 3-239-25 ॥
