तथा भूते तु भगवान नावधीन महिषं रणे सस्मार च तदा सकन्दं मृत्युं तस्य दुरात्मनः ।। ३-२२१-६० ।।

sanskrit

'Despite being in that dire situation, the beloved god Rudra chose not to strike down Mahisha himself; instead, he remembered that Skanda would deliver the final blow to that wicked Asura' ।। 3-221-60 ।।

english translation

tathA bhUte tu bhagavAna nAvadhIna mahiSaM raNe sasmAra ca tadA sakandaM mRtyuM tasya durAtmanaH || 3-221-60 ||
