[मार्क] बृहस्पतेश चान्द्रमसी भार्याभूद या यशस्विनी अग्नीन साजनयत पुण्याञ शडेकां चापि पुत्रिकाम ॥ ३-२०९-१ ॥

'Markandeya continued, "Vrihaspati, the celestial sage, had a wife from the lunar world, named Tara. Through her, he had six sons, each imbued with the energy of fire, as well as one daughter."' ॥ 3-209-1 ॥

english translation

आहुतिष्व एव यस्याग्नेर हविर आज्यं विधीयते सॊ ऽगनिर बृहस्पतेः पुत्रः शम्युर नाम महाप्रभः ॥ ३-२०९-२ ॥

'The fire to whom oblations of clarified butter are offered during the Paurnamasya and other sacrifices was Sanju, the son of Vrihaspati, renowned for his great ascetic merit.' ॥ 3-209-2 ॥

english translation

चातुर्मास्येषु यस्येष्ट्याम अश्वमेधे ऽगरजः पशुः दीप्तॊ जवालैर अनेकाभिर अग्निर एकॊ ऽथ वीर्यवान ॥ ३-२०९-३ ॥

'At the Chaturmasya and Ashvamedha sacrifices, animals are first offered in his honour, and this powerful fire is signified by numerous flames.' ॥ 3-209-3 ॥

english translation

शम्यॊर अप्रतिमा भार्या सत्या सत्या च धर्मजा अग्निस तस्य सुतॊ दीप्तस तिस्रः कन्याश च सुव्रताः ॥ ३-२०९-४ ॥

'Sanju's wife, Satya, was of unparalleled beauty, born of Dharma (righteousness) for the sake of truth. The radiant fire was his son, and he had three daughters, all of great religious merit.' ॥ 3-209-4 ॥

english translation

परथमेनाज्य भागेन पूज्यते यॊ ऽगनिर अध्वरे अग्निस तस्य भरद्वाजः परथमः पुत्र उच्यते ॥ ३-२०९-५ ॥

'The fire that is honored with the first offerings at sacrifices is his first son, named Bharadwaja.' ॥ 3-209-5 ॥
