जन्तुस तु कर्मभिस तैस तैः सवकृतैः परेत्य दुःखितः तद्दुःखप्रतिघातार्थम अपुण्यां यॊनिम अश्नुते ॥ ३-२००-३५ ॥
'Animate beings become miserable in the next world due to their own actions, and as a result of those miseries, they are born into lower forms of life.' ॥ 3-200-35 ॥
