अग्नयॊ मांसकामाश च इत्य अपि शरूयते शरुतिः यज्ञेषु पशवॊ बरह्मन वध्यन्ते सततं दविजैः संस्कृताः किल मन्त्रैश च ते ऽपि सवर्गम अवाप्नुवन ॥ ३-१९९-९ ॥
'It is said that the sacred fire delights in animal offerings, and this tradition has been passed down through generations. At sacrifices, animals are invariably slaughtered by the regenerate Brahmanas, and these animals, purified of sin through the chanting of hymns, attain the heavenly realms.' ॥ 3-199-9 ॥
