तस्माद देशे च दुर्गे च शत्रुमित्र बलेषु च नित्यं चारेण बॊद्धव्यं सथानं वृद्धिः कषयस तथा ॥ ३-१४९-४० ॥
'Therefore, it is essential to gather information through spies about the nature of the enemy's territory, its fortified positions, the strength of their alliances, and the rise and fall of their power, as well as how they maintain the loyalty of the forces they have gathered.' ॥ 3-149-40 ॥
