एतत कृतयुगं नाम तरैगुण्यपरिवर्जितम तरेताम अपि निबॊध तवं यस्मिन सत्रं परवर्तते ॥ ३-१४८-२२ ॥
'Such is the Krita Yuga, devoid of the three qualities. Now, listen as I describe the nature of the Treta Yuga. In this age, sacrifices are introduced, and virtue diminishes by a quarter.' ॥ 3-148-22 ॥
