वित्रास्य कारण्डवचक्रवाका न्महारवैर्भिन्नकटा गजेन्द्राः । सरस्सु बद्धाम्बुजभूषणेषु विक्षोभ्य विक्षोभ्य जलं पिबन्ति ॥ ४-३०-४१
'Excellent elephants in rut, with ichor exuding from their temples trumpet, frightening the ducks and chakravaka birds in the water. Strirring the water in the lakes, ornamented with lotuses, they drink it. [4-30-41]

व्यपेतपङ्कासु सवालुकासु प्रसन्नतोयासु सगोकुलासु । ससारसारावनिनादितासु नदीषु हृष्टा निपतन्ति हंसाः ॥ ४-३०-४२
'The swans are full of joy, flocking on the sand banks of rivers crowded with cows where the water is pure and devoid of mud. The rivers are full of sarasa birds and swans who are singing delightfully. [4-30-42]

नदीघनप्रस्रवणोदकाना मतिप्रवृद्धानिलबर्हिणानाम् । प्लवङ्गमानां च गतोत्सवानां द्रुतं रवास्सम्प्रति सम्प्रणष्टाः ॥ ४-३०-४३
'Suddenly the turbulent sounds of the river waters, waterfalls and thunderclouds have stopped. The peacoks having lost the pleasure of blowing winds lost their excitement. The croaking of frogs is silent. [4-30-43]

अनेकवर्णास्सुविनष्टकाया नवोदितेष्वम्बुधरेषु नष्टाः । क्षुधार्दिता घोरविषा बिलेभ्य श्चिरोषिता विप्रसरन्ति सर्पाः ॥ ४-३०-४४
'With no new rainclouds (in the sky), venomous, multicoloured serpents crawl out of the anthills with emacited (hybernated) bodies, troubled by hunger due to long confinement. [4-30-43]

चञ्चच्चन्द्रकरस्पर्शहर्षोन्मीलिततारका । अहो रागवती सन्ध्या जहाति स्वयमम्बरम् ॥ ४-३०-४५
'While the stars appear with the soothing touch of the Moon's beams, this ruddy twilight is quitting the sky on her own. [4-30-45]
