ततस्तेन महातेजा वीयौटत्सिक्तः कपीश्वरः । वेगेनाभिहतो वाली निपपात महीतले ॥ ४-१६-३६
Then the powerful monkey king Vali, who was proud of his might, fell down on earth, struck by the fast flying arrow. ॥ 4-16-36॥
english translation
tatastena mahAtejA vIyauTatsiktaH kapIzvaraH । vegenAbhihato vAlI nipapAta mahItale ॥ 4-16-36
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइन्द्रध्वज इवोद्धूतः पौर्णमास्यां महीतले । आश्वयुक्समये मासि गतश्रीको विचेतनः ॥ ४-१६-३७
Vali fell lustreless on the ground. He was thrown down unconscious like the banner ( hoisted in honour ) of Indra on the full moon day of Aswayuja month ( October-November ). ॥ 4-16-37॥
english translation
indradhvaja ivoddhUtaH paurNamAsyAM mahItale । Azvayuksamaye mAsi gatazrIko vicetanaH ॥ 4-16-37
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनरोत्तमः कालयुगान्तकोपमं शरोत्तमं काञ्चनरूप्यभुषितम् । ससर्ज दीप्तं तममित्रमर्दनं सधूममग्निं मुखतो यथा हरः ॥ ४-१६-३८
The arrow of Rama, distinguished among men, adorned with silver and gold, which could crush the enemy shone like fire and smoke emitted from the mouth of Rudra at the time of dissolution ( at the end of the aeon ). ॥ 4-16-38॥
english translation
narottamaH kAlayugAntakopamaM zarottamaM kAJcanarUpyabhuSitam । sasarja dIptaM tamamitramardanaM sadhUmamagniM mukhato yathA haraH ॥ 4-16-38
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथोक्षितश्शोणिततोयविस्रवै स्सुपुष्पिताशोक इवानिलोद्धतः । विचेतनो वासवसूनुराहवे विभ्रंशितेन्द्रध्वजवत्क्षितिं गतः ॥ ४-१६-३९
While Indra's son (Vali) fell unconscious on the ground, drenched in blood flowing, like a fully bloomed Asoka tree shaken down by the wind, he looked like Indra's flag fallen. ॥ 4-16-39॥
