हृष्टास्समभिगच्छन्ति नलिनीं तां रिरंसवः । क्षीरोदं समतिक्रम्य तदा द्रक्ष्यथ वानराः ॥ ४-४०-४६

जलोदं सागरं शीघ्रं सर्वभूतभयावहम् । तत्र तत्कोपजं तेजः कृतं हयमुखं महत् ॥ ४-४०-४७
- immediately the seas most dreadful to all creatures. Here is born Hayamukha, out of the fast spreading fire of anger of the ocean. [4-40-47]

अस्याहुस्तन्महावेगमोदनं सचराचरम् । तत्र विक्रोशतां नादो भूतानां सागरौकसाम् । श्रूयते च समर्थानां दृष्ट्वा तद्बडबामुखम् ॥ ४-४०-४८
'Its movable and immovable creatures constitute his food. There you can hear the sounds of helpless oceanic creatures crying loudly on seeing the burning face of Vadava. [4-40-48]

स्वादूदस्योत्तरे देशे योजनानि त्रयोदश । जातरूपशिलो नाम महान्कनकपर्वतः ॥ ४-४०-४९
'Thirteen yojanas to the north of this ocean of pure waters is a huge golden mountain called Jatarupasila. [4-40-49]

तत्र चन्द्रप्रतीकाशं पन्नगं धरणीधरम् । पद्मपत्रविशालाक्षं ततो द्रक्ष्यथ वानराः ॥ ४-४०-५०
'O monkeys, you will see a serpent as bright as the Moon, with large eyes like lotus petals bearing the load of the earth - [4-40-50]
