सूर्यपुत्रो महावीर्यस्सुग्रीवः परिहीयते । वालिना भग्नदर्पस्तु सुग्रीवो मन्दविक्रमः ॥ ४-१६-२७

- and mighty Sugriva, son of the Sun-god, was losing ground. Vali diminished Sugriva's strength and crushed his pride. ॥ 4-16-27॥

वालिनं प्रति सामर्षो दर्शयामास लाघवम् । वृक्षैः स शाखैः शिखरैः वज्र कोटि निभैः नखैः ॥ ४-१६-२८

He was anguished and exhibited shrewdness towards Vali. With trees full of branches and tops, with their hard nails akin to thunderbolts . - ॥ 4-16-28॥

मुष्टिभिर्जानुभिः पद्भिर्बाहुभिश्च पुनः पुनः । तयोर्युद्धमभूद्घोरं वृत्रवासवयोरिव ॥ ४-१६-२९

- and with their fists, knees, feet, etc both were hitting each other again and again like Vritra and Indra fought. ॥ 4-16-29॥
