न हि धर्मविरुद्धस्य लोकवृत्तादपेयुषः । दण्डादन्यत्र पश्यामि निग्रहं हरियूथप ॥ ४-१८-२१
'O lord of monkeys I do not see any other way of controlling a person excepting punishing the one who has acted against dharma and swerved from the accepted code of conduct. ॥ 4-18-21॥
english translation
na hi dharmaviruddhasya lokavRttAdapeyuSaH । daNDAdanyatra pazyAmi nigrahaM hariyUthapa ॥ 4-18-21
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन हि ते मर्षये पापं क्षत्रियोऽहं कुलोद्भवः । औरसीं भगिनीं वापि भार्यां वाप्यनुजस्य यः ॥ ४-१८-२२
'I am a kshatriya born of a good family. I will not pardon you for your sin. Whosoever transgresses dharma against his own daughter, sister or brother's wife . - ॥ 4-18-22॥
english translation
na hi te marSaye pApaM kSatriyo'haM kulodbhavaH । aurasIM bhaginIM vApi bhAryAM vApyanujasya yaH ॥ 4-18-22
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रचरेत नरः कामात्तस्य दण्डो वधः स्मृतः । भरतस्तु महीपालो वयं त्वादेशवर्तिनः ॥ ४-१८-२३
- out of lust should be punished and killed according to smriti. Bharata is a king and we follow his command. ॥ 4-18-23॥
english translation
pracareta naraH kAmAttasya daNDo vadhaH smRtaH । bharatastu mahIpAlo vayaM tvAdezavartinaH ॥ 4-18-23
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्वं तु धर्मादतिक्रान्तः कथं शक्यं उपेक्षितुम् । गुरूर्धर्मव्यतिक्रान्तं प्राज्ञो धर्मेण पालयन् ॥ ४-१८-२४
'How can you, who have strayed from dharma, go unpunished? While ruling righteously sensible Bharata punishes him who oversteps the momentous virtue - ॥ 4-18-24॥
english translation
tvaM tu dharmAdatikrAntaH kathaM zakyaM upekSitum । gurUrdharmavyatikrAntaM prAjJo dharmeNa pAlayan ॥ 4-18-24
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभरतः कामवृत्तानां निग्रहे पर्यवस्थितः । वयं तु भरतादेश विधिं कृत्वा हरीश्वर । त्वद्विधान्भिन्नमर्यादान्नियन्तुपर्यवस्थिताः ॥ ४-१८-२५
- and he is poised to put down lustful ones. O Vali we have to follow Bharata's command and are bent upon punishing those wicked people who deviate from the bounds of dharma. ॥ 4-18-25॥

bharataH kAmavRttAnAM nigrahe paryavasthitaH । vayaM tu bharatAdeza vidhiM kRtvA harIzvara । tvadvidhAnbhinnamaryAdAnniyantuparyavasthitAH ॥ 4-18-25
