नेत्रे निमीलयसि नक्तमदृष्टबन्धुस्त्वं रोरवीषि करुणं बत चक्रवाकि । दास्यं गता वयमिवाच्युतपादजुष्टां किं वा स्रजं स्पृहयसे कबरेण वोढुम् ॥ १०-९०-१६ ॥
Poor cakravākī, even after closing your eyes, you continue to cry pitifully through the night for your unseen mate. Or is it that, like us, you have become the servant of Acyuta and hanker to wear in your braided hair the garland He has blessed with the touch of His feet? ॥ 10-90-16 ॥

बेचारे चक्रवाकी, तुम अपनी आँखें बंद करने के बाद भी रात भर अपने अनदेखे साथी के लिए दयनीय रूप से रोते रहते हो। या क्या ऐसा है कि आप भी हमारी तरह अच्युत के सेवक बन गये हैं और अपने बालों में उस माला को पहनने के लिए लालायित हैं जिसे उन्होंने अपने पैरों के स्पर्श से आशीर्वाद दिया है? ॥ १०-९०-१६ ॥

भो भोः सदा निष्टनसे उदन्वन्नलब्धनिद्रोऽधिगतप्रजागरः । किं वा मुकुन्दापहृतात्मलाञ्छनः प्राप्तां दशां त्वं च गतो दुरत्ययाम् ॥ १०-९०-१७ ॥
Dear ocean, you are always roaring, not sleeping at night. Are you suffering insomnia? Or is it that, as with us, Mukunda has taken your insignias and you are hopeless of retrieving them ? ॥ 10-90-17 ॥

प्रिय सागर, तुम सदैव दहाड़ते रहते हो, रात को नींद नहीं आती। क्या आप अनिद्रा से पीड़ित हैं? या क्या ऐसा है कि, हमारी तरह, मुकुंद ने आपके प्रतीक चिन्ह ले लिए हैं और आप उन्हें पुनः प्राप्त करने में निराश हैं? ॥ १०-९०-१७ ॥

त्वं यक्ष्मणा बलवतासि गृहीत इन्दो क्षीणस्तमो न निजदीधितिभिः क्षिणोषि । कच्चिन्मुकुन्दगदितानि यथा वयं त्वं विस्मृत्य भोः स्थगितगीरुपलक्ष्यसे नः ॥ १०-९०-१८ ॥
My dear moon, having contracted a severe case of tuberculosis, you have become so emaciated that you fail to dispel the darkness with your rays. Or is it that you appear dumbstruck because, like us, you cannot remember the encouraging promises Mukunda once made to you? ॥ 10-90-18 ॥

मेरे प्रिय चंद्रमा, तपेदिक की गंभीर बीमारी से पीड़ित होने के कारण, आप इतने क्षीण हो गए हैं कि आप अपनी किरणों से अंधकार को दूर करने में विफल हो गए हैं। या क्या ऐसा है कि आप स्तब्ध दिखाई देते हैं क्योंकि, हमारी तरह, आप उन उत्साहवर्धक वादों को याद नहीं कर पाते जो मुकुंद ने एक बार आपसे किए थे? ॥ १०-९०-१८ ॥

O Malayan breeze, what have we done to displease you, so that you stir up lust in our hearts, which have already been shattered by Govinda’s sidelong glances? ॥ 10-90-19 ॥

हे मलायन हवा, हमने तुम्हें अप्रसन्न करने के लिए ऐसा क्या किया है कि तुम हमारे दिलों में वासना जगाती हो, जो पहले ही गोविंदा की तिरछी नज़रों से चकनाचूर हो चुके हैं? ॥ १०-९०-१९ ॥

मेघ श्रीमंस्त्वमसि दयितो यादवेन्द्रस्य नूनं श्रीवत्साङ्कं वयमिव भवान् ध्यायति प्रेमबद्धः । अत्युत्कण्ठः शबलहृदयोऽस्मद्विधो बाष्पधाराः स्मृत्वा स्मृत्वा विसृजसि मुहुर्दुःखदस्तत्प्रसङ्गः ॥ १०-९०-२० ॥
O revered cloud, you are indeed very dear to the chief of the Yādavas, who bears the mark of Śrīvatsa. Like us, you are bound to Him by love and are meditating upon Him. Your heart is distraught with great eagerness, as our hearts are, and as you remember Him again and again you shed a torrent of tears. Association with Kṛṣṇa brings such misery! ॥ 10-90-20 ॥

हे श्रद्धेय मेघ, आप वास्तव में श्रीवत्स चिन्ह धारण करने वाले यादवों के मुखिया को बहुत प्रिय हैं। हमारी तरह, आप भी प्रेम से उससे बंधे हैं और उसका ध्यान कर रहे हैं। हमारे हृदयों की भाँति तुम्हारा हृदय भी बड़ी उत्सुकता से व्याकुल है, और जब तुम उन्हें बार-बार स्मरण करते हो तो तुम आँसुओं की धारा बहा देते हो। कृष्ण के साथ संगति इतना दुःख लाती है! ॥ १०-९०-२० ॥
