श्रीशुक उवाच तयोस्तदद्भुतं कर्म दावाग्नेर्मोक्षमात्मनः । गोपाः स्त्रीभ्यः समाचख्युः प्रलम्बवधमेव च ॥ १०-२०-१ ॥
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said:To the ladies of Vṛndāvana, the cowherd boys then related in full detail Kṛṣṇa’s and Balarāma’s wonderful activities of delivering them from the forest fire and killing the demon Pralamba. ॥ 10-20-1 ॥

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : तब ग्वालबालों ने वृन्दावन की स्त्रियों से दावाग्नि से बचाए जाने और प्रलम्बासुर का बध किये जाने के कृष्ण तथा बलराम के अद्भुत कार्यों का विस्तार से वर्णन किया। ॥ १०-२०-१ ॥

गोपवृद्धाश्च गोप्यश्च तदुपाकर्ण्य विस्मिताः । मेनिरे देवप्रवरौ कृष्णरामौ व्रजं गतौ ॥ १०-२०-२ ॥
The elder cowherd men and ladies were amazed to hear this account, and they concluded that Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma must be exalted demigods who had appeared in Vṛndāvana. ॥ 10-20-2 ॥

यह वर्णन सुनकर बड़े-बूढ़े गोप तथा स्त्रियाँ आश्चर्यचकित हो गये और वे इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचे कि कृष्ण तथा बलराम अवश्य ही महान् देवता हैं, जो वृन्दावन में प्रकट हुए हैं। ॥ १०-२०-२ ॥

ततः प्रावर्तत प्रावृट् सर्वसत्त्वसमुद्भवा । विद्योतमानपरिधिर्विस्फूर्जितनभस्तला ॥ १०-२०-३ ॥
Then the rainy season began, giving life and sustenance to all living beings. The sky began to rumble with thunder, and lightning flashed on the horizon. ॥ 10-20-3 ॥

इसके बाद वर्षा ऋतु का शुभारम्भ हुआ जो समस्त जीवों को जीवनदान देती है। आकाश गर्जना से गूँजने लगा और क्षितिज पर बिजली चमकने लगी। ॥ १०-२०-३ ॥

सान्द्रनीलाम्बुदैर्व्योम सविद्युत्स्तनयित्नुभिः । अस्पष्टज्योतिराच्छन्नं ब्रह्मेव सगुणं बभौ ॥ १०-२०-४ ॥
The sky was then covered by dense blue clouds accompanied by lightning and thunder. Thus the sky and its natural illumination were covered in the same way that the spirit soul is covered by the three modes of material nature. ॥ 10-20-4 ॥

तत्पश्चात् बिजली तथा गरज से युक्त घने नीले बादलों से आकाश आच्छादित हो गया। इस तरह आकाश तथा उसकी प्राकृतिक ज्योति उसी तरह ढक गये जिस तरह आत्मा प्रकृति के तीन गुणों से आच्छादित हो जाता है। ॥ १०-२०-४ ॥

अष्टौ मासान् निपीतं यद्भूम्याश्चोदमयं वसु । स्वगोभिर्मोक्तुमारेभे पर्जन्यः काल आगते ॥ १०-२०-५ ॥
With its rays, the sun had for eight months drunk up the earth’s wealth in the form of water. Now that the proper time had arrived, the sun began releasing this accumulated wealth. ॥ 10-20-5 ॥

सूर्य ने अपनी किरणों से आठ मास तक पृथ्वी की जल रूपी सम्पत्ति का शोषण किया था। अब उपयुक्त समय आ गया था और सूर्य अपने उस संचित संपत्ति को मुक्त करने लगा। ॥ १०-२०-५ ॥
