श्रीशुक उवाच गोप्य: कृष्णे वनं याते तमनुद्रुतचेतस: । कृष्णलीला: प्रगायन्त्यो निन्युर्दु:खेन वासरान् ॥ १०-३५-१ ॥
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Whenever Kṛṣṇa went to the forest, the minds of the gopīs would run after Him, and thus the young girls sadly spent their days singing of His pastimes. ॥ 10-35-1 ॥
english translation
शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : जब भी कृष्ण वन को जाते थे तो गोपियों के मन उन्हीं के पीछे भाग जाते थे और इस तरह युवतियाँ उनकी लीलाओं का गान करते हुए खिन्नतापूर्वक अपने दिन बिताती थीं। ॥ १०-३५-१ ॥

गोप्य ऊचुः वामबाहुकृतवामकपोलो वल्गितभ्रुरधरार्पितवेणुम् । कोमलाङ्गुलिभिराश्रितमार्गं गोप्य ईरयति यत्र मुकुन्दः ॥ १०-३५-२ ॥
The gopīs said: When Mukunda vibrates the flute He has placed to His lips, stopping its holes with His tender fingers, He rests His left cheek on His left arm and makes His eyebrows dance. ॥ 10-35-2 ॥
english translation
गोपियों ने कहा : जब मुकुन्द अपने होंठों पर रखी बाँसुरी के छेदों को अपनी सुकुमार अँगुलियों से बन्द करके उसे बजाते हैं, तो वे अपने बाएँ गाल को अपनी बाईं बाँह पर रखकर अपनी भौंहों को नचाने लगते हैं। ॥ १०-३५-२ ॥

व्योमयानवनिताः सहसिद्धैर्विस्मितास्तदुपधार्य सलज्जाः । काममार्गणसमर्पितचित्ताः कश्मलं ययुरपस्मृतनीव्यः ॥ १०-३५-३ ॥
At that time the demigoddesses traveling in the sky with their husbands, the Siddhas, become amazed. As those ladies listen, they are embarrassed to find their minds yielding to the pursuit of lusty desires, and in their distress they are unaware that the belts of their garments are loosening. ॥ 10-35-3 ॥

उस समय आकाश में अपने पतियों अर्थात् सिद्धों समेत विचरण कर रही सिद्धपत्नियाँ चकित हो उठती हैं। जब ये स्त्रियाँ वंशी की ध्वनि सुनती हैं, तो उनके मन कामवासना से चलायमान हो उठते हैं और अपनी पीड़ा में उन्हें इसकी भी सुधि नहीं रह जाती कि उनके कमरबंध शिथिल हुए जा रहे हैं। ॥ १०-३५-३ ॥

हन्त चित्रमबलाः शृणुतेदं हारहास उरसि स्थिरविद्युत् । नन्दसूनुरयमार्तजनानां नर्मदो यर्हि कूजितवेणुः ॥ १०-३५-४ ॥
O girls! This son of Nanda, who gives joy to the distressed, bears steady lightning on His chest and has a smile like a jeweled necklace. Now please hear something wonderful. When He vibrates His flute, ॥ 10-35-4 ॥

हे बालाओ, दुखियों को आनन्द देने वाला यह नन्द का बेटा अपने वक्षस्थल पर अविचल दामिनी वहन करता है और इसकी हँसी रत्नजटित हार जैसी है। अब जरा कुछ विचित्र बात सुनो। जब वह अपनी बाँसुरी बजाता है, ॥ १०-३५-४ ॥

वृन्दशो व्रजवृषा मृगगावो वेणुवाद्यहृतचेतस आरात् । दन्तदष्टकवला धृतकर्णा निद्रिता लिखितचित्रमिवासन् ॥ १०-३५-५ ॥
Vraja’s bulls, deer and cows, standing in groups at a great distance, are all captivated by the sound, and they stop chewing the food in their mouths and cock their ears. Stunned, they appear as if asleep, or like figures in a painting. ॥ 10-35-5 ॥

तो बहुत दूरी पर खड़े व्रज के बैल, हिरण तथा गौवें के झुंड के झुंड इस ध्वनि से मोहित हो जाते हैं। वे सब जुगाली करना बंद कर देते हैं और अपने कानों को खड़ा कर लेते हैं (चौकन्ने हो जाते हैं)। वे स्तम्भित होकर ऐसे लगते हैं मानो सो गये हों या चित्रों में बनी आकृतियाँ हों। ॥ १०-३५-५ ॥
