स्वं स्वं वत्सकुलं सर्वे पाययिष्यन्त एकदा । गत्वा जलाशयाभ्याशं पाययित्वा पपुर्जलम् ।। १०-११-४६ ।।

sanskrit

One day all the boys, including Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, each boy taking his own group of calves, brought the calves to a reservoir of water, desiring to allow them to drink. After the animals drank water, the boys drank water there also. ।। 10-11-46 ।।

svaM svaM vatsakulaM sarve pAyayiSyanta ekadA | gatvA jalAzayAbhyAzaM pAyayitvA papurjalam || 10-11-46 ||

ते तत्र ददृशुर्बाला महासत्त्वमवस्थितम् । तत्रसुर्वज्रनिर्भिन्नं गिरेः श‍ृङ्गमिव च्युतम् ।। १०-११-४७ ।।

sanskrit

Right by the reservoir, the boys saw a gigantic body resembling a mountain peak broken and struck down by a thunderbolt. They were afraid even to see such a huge living being. ।। 10-11-47 ।।

स वै बको नाम महानसुरो बकरूपधृक् । आगत्य सहसा कृष्णं तीक्ष्णतुण्डोऽग्रसद्बली ।। १०-११-४८ ।।

That great-bodied demon was named Bakāsura. He had assumed the body of a duck with a very sharp beak. Having come there, he immediately swallowed Kṛṣṇa. ।। 10-11-48 ।।

कृष्णं महाबकग्रस्तं दृष्ट्वा रामादयोऽर्भकाः । बभूवुरिन्द्रियाणीव विना प्राणं विचेतसः ।। १०-११-४९ ।।

When Balarāma and the other boys saw that Kṛṣṇa had been devoured by the gigantic duck, they became almost unconscious, like senses without life. ।। 10-11-49 ।।

तं तालुमूलं प्रदहन्तमग्निवद्गोपालसूनुं पितरं जगद्गुरोः । चच्छर्द सद्योऽतिरुषाक्षतं बकस्तुण्डेन हन्तुं पुनरभ्यपद्यत ।। १०-११-५० ।।

sanskrit

Kṛṣṇa, who was the father of Lord Brahmā but who was acting as the son of a cowherd man, became like fire, burning the root of the demon’s throat, and the demon Bakāsura immediately disgorged Him. When the demon saw that Kṛṣṇa, although having been swallowed, was unharmed, he immediately attacked Kṛṣṇa again with his sharp beak. ।। 10-11-50 ।।
