राक्षसाः सिद्धसन्नाहास्ततस्ते चण्डविक्रमाः । तदाऽदह्यन्त मे पुच्छं निघ्नन्त: काष्ठमुष्टिभिः ॥ ५-५८-१५१
''Thereafter, the demons of terrible prowess, who completed their arrangements, striking me with their wooden staffs and fists, burnt my tail. ॥ 5-58-151॥
english translation
rAkSasAH siddhasannAhAstataste caNDavikramAH । tadA'dahyanta me pucchaM nighnanta: kASThamuSTibhiH ॥ 5-58-151
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबद्धस्य बहुभिः पाशैर्यन्त्रितस्य च राक्षसैः । ततस्ते राक्षसाश्शूरा बद्धं मामग्निसंवृतम् ॥ ५-५८-१५२
''Even though I was bound with many ropes by demons, I maintained restraint. Then having bound me and setting my tail on fire, the brave demons . - ॥ 5-58-152॥

baddhasya bahubhiH pAzairyantritasya ca rAkSasaiH । tataste rAkSasAzzUrA baddhaM mAmagnisaMvRtam ॥ 5-58-152
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअघोषयन्राजमार्गे नगरद्वारमागताः । ततोऽहं सुमहद्रूपं संक्षिप्य पुनरात्मनः ॥ ५-५८-१५३
- took me round the city through the royal streets and announced loudly to let every one know it. Then, after contracting my gigantic form once more - ॥ 5-58-153॥

aghoSayanrAjamArge nagaradvAramAgatAH । tato'haM sumahadrUpaM saMkSipya punarAtmanaH ॥ 5-58-153

- I rid of the bondage. Then again I assumed my original huge form and took up an iron bar lying near and killed all the demons (present). ॥ 5-58-154॥

vimocayitvA taM bandhaM prakRtisthaH sthitaH punaH । AyasaM parighaM gRhya tAni rakSAMsyasUdayam ॥ 5-58-154

"Then I leaped to the entrance gate of the city without being perplexed. With my burning tail I set fire to the boundaries and towering mansions which looked like the world at the end of dissolution. ॥ 5-58-155॥
