तत्र प्राग्ज्योतिषं नाम जातरूपमयं पुरम् । यस्मिन्वसति दुष्टात्मा नरको नाम दानवः ॥ ४-४२-३१
'On the (Varaha) mountain is the city called Pragjyotisha, which is full of gold. There lives the evil-minded demon Naraka. ॥ 4-42-31॥
english translation
tatra prAgjyotiSaM nAma jAtarUpamayaM puram । yasminvasati duSTAtmA narako nAma dAnavaH ॥ 4-42-31

'There all over the wonderful slopes and wide caves look for Vaidehi and Ravana. ॥ 4-42-32॥

tatra sAnuSu citreSu vizAlAsu guhAsu ca । rAvaNassaha vaidehyA mArgitavyastatastataH ॥ 4-42-32

'On ranging from that best mountain Varaaha, whose caves are inlaid with gold-deposits apparent to the naked eye, there is an entirely golden mountain containing waterfalls and rapids called Meghavanta. ॥ 4-42-33॥

tamatikramya zailendraM kAJcanAntaranirdaraH । parvata ssarvasauvarNo dhArAprasravaNAyutaH ॥ 4-42-33
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतं गजाश्च वराहाश्च सिंह व्याघ्राश्च सर्वतः । अभिगर्जन्ति सततं तेन शब्देन दर्पिताः ॥ ४-४२-३४
'Listening the sonorous sounds of waterfalls and rapids of that mountain, and construing them to be the roars of their opponent beasts, the elephants, wild boars, lions, and tigers will always be facing that mountain and roaring proud-heartedly all around it, by which that Mt. Meghavanta itself appears to be roaring, proud-heartedly. ॥ 4-42-34॥

taM gajAzca varAhAzca siMha vyAghrAzca sarvataH । abhigarjanti satataM tena zabdena darpitAH ॥ 4-42-34
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्मिन्हरिहय्शीमान्महेन्द्रः पाकशासनः । अभिषिक्तः सुरै राजा मेघवान्नाम पर्वतः ॥ ४-४२-३५
'Possessor of tawny horses, king Indra who killed demon Pakasasana was consecrated by gods at this mountain since known as Meghavan. ॥ 4-42-35॥
