शैलस्य तस्य शृङ्गेषु कन्दरेषु वनेषु च । रावणस्सह वैदेह्या मार्गितव्यस्ततस्ततः ॥ ४-४०-६१
'You should search for Ravana and Vaidehi on the peak of that mountain, in the caves, in the forests here and there. ॥ 4-40-61॥

zailasya tasya zRGgeSu kandareSu vaneSu ca । rAvaNassaha vaidehyA mArgitavyastatastataH ॥ 4-40-61
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकाञ्चनस्य च शैलस्य सूर्यस्य च महात्मनः । आविष्टा तेजसा सन्ध्या पूर्वा रक्ता प्रकाशते ॥ ४-४०-६२
'The early morning twilight appears bright red because of the glow of the golden mountain as well as of the great Sun-god. ॥ 4-40-62॥
english translation
kAJcanasya ca zailasya sUryasya ca mahAtmanaH । AviSTA tejasA sandhyA pUrvA raktA prakAzate ॥ 4-40-62
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपूर्वमेतत्कृतं द्वारं पृथिव्या भुवनस्य च । सूर्यस्योदयनं चैव पर्वा ह्येषा दिगुच्यते ॥ ४-४०-६३
'Here is the entrance for the earth as well as for all the worlds and since the Sun also rises from this place it is called the eastern direction. ॥ 4-40-63॥

pUrvametatkRtaM dvAraM pRthivyA bhuvanasya ca । sUryasyodayanaM caiva parvA hyeSA digucyate ॥ 4-40-63
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य शैलस्य पृष्ठेषु निर्झरेषु गुहासु च । रावण स्सह वैदेह्या मार्गितव्यस्ततस्ततः ॥ ४-४०-६४
'You may look for Ravana and also for Vaidehi even behind the mountain on the plains and also near the mountain streams and caves all over. ॥ 4-40-64॥

tasya zailasya pRSTheSu nirjhareSu guhAsu ca । rAvaNa ssaha vaidehyA mArgitavyastatastataH ॥ 4-40-64
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः परमगम्या स्याद्दिक्पूर्वा त्रिदशावृता । रहिता चन्द्रसूर्याभ्यामदृश्या तिमिरावृता ॥ ४-४०-६५
'Beyond, there is no Sun or Moon. Darkness pervades. It is neither accessible nor visible. It is guarded by the gods. ॥ 4-40-65॥
