सुग्रीवं चैव तारां च साङ्गदं सहलक्ष्मणः | समानशोकः काकुत्स्थ स्सान्त्वयन्निदमब्रवीत् || ४-२५-१

Rama and Lakshmana were equally sad. Rama, scion of the Kakutstha race, consoled Sugriva, Tara as well as Angada in the following words : [4-25-1]

न शोकपरितापेन श्रेयसा युज्यते मृतः | यदत्रानन्तरं कार्यं तत्समाधातुमर्हथ || ४-२५-२

'No lamentation revives the dead. So you should take up whatever is required now. [4-25-2]

na zokaparitApena zreyasA yujyate mRtaH | yadatrAnantaraM kAryaM tatsamAdhAtumarhatha || 4-25-2

लोकवृत्तमनुष्ठेयं कृतं वो बाष्पमोक्षणम् | न कालादुत्तरं किञ्चित्कर्म शक्यमुपासितुम् || ४-२५-३

'You have to go the worldly way. You have shed tears enough. Time is passing. You cannot perform the funeral after the lapse of appropriate time. [4-25-3]

lokavRttamanuSTheyaM kRtaM vo bASpamokSaNam | na kAlAduttaraM kiJcitkarma zakyamupAsitum || 4-25-3

नियतिः कारणं लोके नियतिः कर्मसाधनम् | नियतिस्सर्वभूतानां नियोगेष्विह कारणम् || ४-२५-४

'Fate is the cause of the world. Fate is the means of accomplishment. Fate assigns duties to all beings. [4-25-4]

niyatiH kAraNaM loke niyatiH karmasAdhanam | niyatissarvabhUtAnAM niyogeSviha kAraNam || 4-25-4

न कर्ता कस्यचित्कश्चिन्नियोगे चापिनेश्वरः | स्वभावे वर्तते लोकस्तस्य कालः परायणम् || ४-२५-५

'No one can control another's action. No one including God can be the agent of action. No one has the power to entrust duty to others. This entire world is governed by one's own nature. Nature in turn is governed by Time (fate). [4-25-5]
