बहवस्सारवन्तश्च वनेषु विविधा द्रुमाः । वालिना तरसा भग्ना बलं प्रथयताऽत्मनः ॥ ४-११-६
'Vali would break several sturdy trees in the forest with his vigour and speed, exhibiting his strength. ॥ 4-11-6॥
english translation
bahavassAravantazca vaneSu vividhA drumAH । vAlinA tarasA bhagnA balaM prathayatA'tmanaH ॥ 4-11-6
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमहिषो दुन्दुभिर्नाम कैलासशिखरप्रभः । बलं नागसहस्रस्य धारयामास वीर्यवान् ॥ ४-११-७
'( Once there was ) Massive like the shining peak of mount Kailas and valiant like the mighty buffalo in form, Dundubhi possessed the strength of a thousand elephants. ॥ 4-11-7॥
english translation
mahiSo dundubhirnAma kailAsazikharaprabhaH । balaM nAgasahasrasya dhArayAmAsa vIryavAn ॥ 4-11-7
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवीर्योत्सेकेन दुष्टात्मा वरदानाच्च मोहितः । जगाम सुमहाकाय स्समुद्रं सरितां पतिम् ॥ ४-११-८
'Wicked Dundubhi of huge body was proud of his valour and deluded by virtue of the boons, went to the ocean, the lord of rivers. ॥ 4-11-8॥
english translation
vIryotsekena duSTAtmA varadAnAcca mohitaH । jagAma sumahAkAya ssamudraM saritAM patim ॥ 4-11-8
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऊर्मिमन्तमभिक्रम्य सागरं रत्नसञ्चयम् । मह्यं युद्धं प्रयच्छेति तमुवाच महार्णवम् ॥ ४-११-९
'Reaching the mighty ocean, he implored the sea with (high) waves and hoards of gems for a fight. ॥ 4-11-9॥
english translation
Urmimantamabhikramya sAgaraM ratnasaJcayam । mahyaM yuddhaM prayaccheti tamuvAca mahArNavam ॥ 4-11-9
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस्समुद्रो धर्मात्मा समुत्थाय महाबलः । अब्रवीद्वचनं राजन्नसुरं कालचोदितम् ॥ ४-११-१०
'O king, then the powerful and righteous king of the ocean came out and spoke to the demon ( Dundubhi ) who was driven to death by fate.' ॥ 4-11-10॥

tatassamudro dharmAtmA samutthAya mahAbalaH । abravIdvacanaM rAjannasuraM kAlacoditam ॥ 4-11-10
