This Ganga had emerged as an elder daughter to Himavan through Mena, oh ! Raghava, and that way a girl renowned by the name Uma had become a second daughter to him. [1-35-16]
"Later, all of the divinities intending to fulfil a divine purpose sought the lordly mountain Himavan to spare Ganga, who is scheduled to become a tri-way-cruising river. [1-35-17]
In order to do good to the three worlds Himavan, rooted in dharma gifted his eldest daughter Ganga who sanctifies the whole world by flowing at her free will. [1-35-18]
The devatas having received Ganga committed to the welfare of the three worlds went back to their abodes with a sense of fulfilment in their mind. [1-35-19]
Oh ! Raghu's descendent, the other daughter of Himavanta, unmarried girl namely Uma, who performed a rigorous sacrament taking hold of a supreme devoutness as her ascesis itself was her wealth. [1-35-20]
