अहं भवो यूयमथोऽसुरादयो मनुष्यतिर्यग्द्रुमघर्मजातयः । यस्यावतारांशकलाविसर्जिता व्रजाम सर्वे शरणं तमव्ययम् ।। ८-५-२१ ।।

Lord Brahmā said: I, Lord Śiva, all of you demigods, the demons, the living entities born of perspiration, the living beings born of eggs, the trees and plants sprouting from the earth, and the living entities born from embryos — all come from the Supreme Lord, from His incarnation of rajo-guṇa [Lord Brahmā, the guṇa-avatāra] and from the great sages [ṛṣis] who are part of me. Let us therefore go to the Supreme Lord and take shelter of His lotus feet. ।। 8-5-21 ।।

english translation

ब्रह्माजी ने कहा : मैं, शिवजी, तुम सारे देवता, असुर, स्वेदज प्राणी, अण्डज, पृथ्वी से उत्पन्न पेड़-पौधे तथा भ्रूण से उत्पन्न सारे जीव—सभी भगवान् से उन के रजोगुण अवतार (ब्रह्मा, गुणअवतार) से तथा ऋषियों से जो मेरे ही अंश हैं। अतएव हम सभी उन भगवान् के पास चलें और उनके चरणकमलों की शरण ग्रहण करें। ।। ८-५-२१ ।।

For the Supreme Personality of Godhead there is no one to be killed, no one to be protected, no one to be neglected and no one to be worshiped. Nonetheless, for the sake of creation, maintenance and annihilation according to time, He accepts different forms as incarnations either in the mode of goodness, the mode of passion or the mode of ignorance. ।। 8-5-22 ।।

english translation

भगवान् के लिए न तो कोई वध्य है, न रक्षणीय, न उपेक्षणीय और न पूजनीय। फिर भी समयानुसार सृष्टि, पालन तथा संहार के लिए वे सतो, रजो या तमो गुण में विभिन्न रूपों में अवतार लेना स्वीकार करते हैं। ।। ८-५-२२ ।।

Now is the time to invoke the mode of goodness of the living entities who have accepted material bodies. The mode of goodness is meant to establish the Supreme Lord’s rule, which will maintain the existence of the creation. Therefore, this is the opportune moment to take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Because He is naturally very kind and dear to the demigods, He will certainly bestow good fortune upon us. ।। 8-5-23 ।।

english translation

देहधारी जीवों के सतोगुण का आह्वान करने का यही अवसर है। सतोगुण भगवान् के शासन की स्थापना करने के निमित्त होता है, जो सृष्टि के अस्तित्व का पालन करेगा। अतएव भगवान् की शरण ग्रहण करने के लिए यह उपयुक्त समय है। चूँकि वे देवताओं पर स्वभावत: अत्यन्त दयालु हैं और उन्हें प्रिय हैं अतएव वे हमें निश्चय ही सौभाग्य प्रदान करेंगे। ।। ८-५-२३ ।।

O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, subduer of all enemies, after Lord Brahmā finished speaking to the demigods, he took them with him to the abode of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, which is beyond this material world. The Lord’s abode is on an island called Śvetadvīpa, which is situated in the Ocean of Milk. ।। 8-5-24 ।।

english translation

हे समस्त शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले महाराज परीक्षित! देवताओं से बातें करने के बाद ब्रह्माजी उन्हें भगवान् के धाम ले गये जो इस भौतिक जगत से परे है। भगवान् का धाम श्वेतद्वीप नामक टापू में है, जो क्षीर सागर में स्थित है। ।। ८-५-२४ ‌‌।।

There [at Śvetadvīpa], Lord Brahmā offered prayers to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, even though he had never seen the Supreme Lord. Simply because Lord Brahmā had heard about the Supreme Personality of Godhead from Vedic literature, with a fixed mind he offered the Lord prayers as written or approved by Vedic literature. ।। 8-5-25 ।।

english translation

वहाँ (श्वेतद्वीप में) ब्रह्माजी ने भगवान् की स्तुति की, यद्यपि उन्होंने परमेश्वर को इसके पूर्व कभी नहीं देखा था। चूँकि उन्होंने वैदिक वाङ्मय से भगवान् के विषय में सुना हुआ था अतएव उन्होंने स्थिरचित्त होकर भगवान् की उसी तरह स्तुति की जिस प्रकार वैदिक साहित्य में लिखी हुई या मान्य है। ।। ८-५-२५ ।।
