देवं स वव्रे पापीयान् वरं भूतभयावहम् । यस्य यस्य करं शीर्ष्णि धास्ये स म्रियतामिति ॥ १०-८८-२१ ॥
॥ Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:॥ The benediction sinful Vṛka chose from the lord would terrify all living beings. Vṛka said, “May death come to whomever I touch upon the head with my hand.” ॥ 10-88-21 ॥
english translation
॥ शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने आगे कहा:॥ भगवान से चुना गया पापी वृक का आशीर्वाद सभी जीवित प्राणियों को भयभीत कर देगा। वृक ने कहा, "मैं जिसके सिर पर हाथ रखूंगा, उसकी मृत्यु हो सकती है।" ॥ १०-८८-२१ ॥

devaM sa vavre pApIyAn varaM bhUtabhayAvaham । yasya yasya karaM zIrSNi dhAsye sa mriyatAmiti ॥ 10-88-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतच्छ्रुत्वा भगवान् रुद्रो दुर्मना इव भारत । ओं इति प्रहसंस्तस्मै ददेऽहेरमृतं यथा ॥ १०-८८-२२ ॥
Upon hearing this, Lord Rudra seemed somewhat disturbed. Nonetheless, O descendant of Bharata, he vibrated om to signify his assent, granting Vṛka the benediction with an ironic smile, as if giving milk to a poisonous snake. ॥ 10-88-22 ॥
english translation
यह सुनकर भगवान रूद्र कुछ परेशान दिखे। फिर भी, हे भरत के वंशज, उन्होंने अपनी सहमति दर्शाने के लिए ॐ का उच्चारण किया, और व्यंग्यपूर्ण मुस्कान के साथ वृक को आशीर्वाद दिया, मानो किसी जहरीले सांप को दूध पिला रहे हों। ॥ १०-८८-२२ ॥

tacchrutvA bhagavAn rudro durmanA iva bhArata । oM iti prahasaMstasmai dade'heramRtaM yathA ॥ 10-88-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइत्युक्तः सोऽसुरो नूनं गौरीहरणलालसः । स तद्वरपरीक्षार्थं शम्भोर्मूर्ध्नि किलासुरः । स्वहस्तं धातुमारेभे सोऽबिभ्यत्स्वकृताच्छिवः ॥ १०-८८-२३ ॥
Having been addressed thus, that demon, undoubtedly eager to abduct Gauri (Parvati) To test Lord Śambhu’s benediction, the demon then tried to put his hand on the Lord’s head. Thus Śiva was frightened because of what he himself had done. ॥ 10-88-23 ॥

भगवान शम्भू के आशीर्वाद की परीक्षा लेने के लिए, राक्षस ने भगवान के सिर पर अपना हाथ रखने की कोशिश की। इस प्रकार शिव स्वयं अपने किये से भयभीत हो गये। ॥ १०-८८-२३ ॥

ityuktaH so'suro nUnaM gaurIharaNalAlasaH । sa tadvaraparIkSArthaM zambhormUrdhni kilAsuraH । svahastaM dhAtumArebhe so'bibhyatsvakRtAcchivaH ॥ 10-88-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेनोपसृष्टः सन्त्रस्तः पराधावन् सवेपथुः । यावदन्तं दिवो भूमेः काष्ठानामुदगादुदक् ॥ १०-८८-२४ ॥
As the demon pursued him, Lord Śiva fled swiftly from his abode in the north, shaking with terror. He ran as far as the limits of the earth, the sky and the corners of the universe. ॥ 10-88-24 ॥

जैसे ही राक्षस ने उनका पीछा किया, भगवान शिव भय से कांपते हुए उत्तर दिशा में अपने निवास से तेजी से भाग गए। वह पृथ्वी, आकाश और ब्रह्माण्ड के कोने-कोने की सीमा तक दौड़ा। ॥ १०-८८-२४ ॥

tenopasRSTaH santrastaH parAdhAvan savepathuH । yAvadantaM divo bhUmeH kASThAnAmudagAdudak ॥ 10-88-24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअजानन्तः प्रतिविधिं तूष्णीमासन् सुरेश्वराः । ततो वैकुण्ठमगमद्भास्वरं तमसः परम् ॥ १०-८८-२५ ॥
The great demigods could only remain silent, not knowing how to counteract the benediction. Then Lord Śiva reached the luminous realm of Vaikuṇṭha, beyond all darkness, where the Supreme Lord Nārāyaṇa is manifest. ॥ 10-88-25 ॥

महान देवता केवल चुप रह सकते थे, उन्हें नहीं पता था कि आशीर्वाद का प्रतिकार कैसे किया जाए। तब भगवान शिव सभी अंधकारों से परे, वैकुंठ के प्रकाशमान लोक में पहुँचे, जहाँ परम भगवान नारायण प्रकट हैं। ॥ १०-८८-२५ ॥
