सा मुञ्च मुञ्चालमिति प्रभाषिणी निष्पीड्यमानाखिलजीवमर्मणि । विवृत्य नेत्रे चरणौ भुजौ मुहुः प्रस्विन्नगात्रा क्षिपती रुरोद ह ॥ १०-६-११ ॥
Unbearably pressed in every vital point, the demon Pūtanā began to cry, “Please leave me, leave me! Suck my breast no longer!” Perspiring, her eyes wide open and her arms and legs flailing, she cried very loudly again and again. ॥ 10-6-11 ॥

प्रत्येक मर्मस्थल में असह्य दबाव से पूतना चिल्ला उठी, “मुझे छोड़ दो, मुझे छोड़ दो! अब मेरा स्तनपान मत करो।” पसीने से तर, फटी हुई आँखें तथा हाथ और पैर पटकती हुई वह बार बार जोर जोर से चिल्लाने लगी। ॥ १०-६-११ ॥

तस्याः स्वनेनातिगभीररंहसा साद्रिर्मही द्यौश्च चचाल सग्रहा । रसा दिशश्च प्रतिनेदिरे जनाः पेतुः क्षितौ वज्रनिपातशङ्कया ॥ १०-६-१२ ॥
As Pūtanā screamed loudly and forcefully, the earth with its mountains, and outer space with its planets, trembled. The lower planets and all directions vibrated, and people fell down, fearing that thunderbolts were falling upon them. ॥ 10-6-12 ॥

पूतना की गहन तथा जोरदार चीत्कार से पर्वतों समेत पृथ्वी तथा ग्रहों समेत आकाश डगमगाने लगा। नीचे के लोक तथा सारी दिशाएँ थरथरा उठीं और लोग इस आशंका से गिर पड़े कि उन पर बिजली गिर रही हो। ॥ १०-६-१२ ॥

निशाचरीत्थं व्यथितस्तना व्यसुर्व्यादाय केशांश्चरणौ भुजावपि । प्रसार्य गोष्ठे निजरूपमास्थिता वज्राहतो वृत्र इवापतन्नृप ॥ १०-६-१३ ॥
In this way the demon Pūtanā, very much aggrieved because her breast was being attacked by Kṛṣṇa, lost her life. O King Parīkṣit, opening her mouth wide and spreading her arms, legs and hair, she fell down in the pasturing ground in her original form as a Rākṣasī, as Vṛtrāsura had fallen when killed by the thunderbolt of Indra. ॥ 10-6-13 ॥

इस तरह कृष्ण द्वारा स्तन पर दबाव डालने से अत्यन्त व्यथित पूतना ने अपने प्राण त्याग दिये। हे राजा परीक्षित, वह अपना मुँह फैलाये तथा अपने हाथ, पाँव पसारे और बाल फैलाये अपने मूल राक्षसी रूप में गोचर में गिर पड़ी मानो इन्द्र के वज्र से आहत वृत्रासुर गिरा हो। ॥ १०-६-१३ ॥

पतमानोऽपि तद्देहस्त्रिगव्यूत्यन्तरद्रुमान् । चूर्णयामास राजेन्द्र महदासीत्तदद्भुतम् ॥ १०-६-१४ ॥
O King Parīkṣit, when the gigantic body of Pūtanā fell to the ground, it smashed all the trees within a limit of twelve miles. Appearing in a gigantic body, she was certainly extraordinary. ॥ 10-6-14 ॥

हे राजा परीक्षित, जब पूतना का विशाल शरीर भूमि पर गिरा तो उससे बारह मील के दायरे के सारे वृक्ष चूर चूर हो गये। अपने विशाल शरीर में प्रकट होने से वह सचमुच असामान्य थी। ॥ १०-६-१४ ॥

ईषामात्रोग्रदंष्ट्रास्यं गिरिकन्दरनासिकम् । गण्डशैलस्तनं रौद्रं प्रकीर्णारुणमूर्धजम् ॥ १०-६-१५ ॥
The Rākṣasī’s mouth was full of teeth, each resembling the front of a plow, her nostrils were deep like mountain caves, and her breasts resembled big slabs of stone fallen from a hill. Her scattered hair was the color of copper. ॥ 10-6-15 ॥

राक्षसी के मुँह में दाँत हल के फाल (कुशी) जैसे थे; उसके नथुने पर्वत-गुफाओं की तरह गहरे थे और उसके स्तन पर्वत से गिरे हुए बड़े बड़े शिलाखण्डों के समान थे। उसके बिखरे बाल ताम्र रंग के थे। ॥ १०-६-१५ ॥
