श्रीशुक उवाच जरासुतस्तावभिसृत्य माधवौ महाबलौघेन बलीयसाऽऽवृणोत् । ससैन्ययानध्वजवाजिसारथी सूर्यानलौ वायुरिवाभ्ररेणुभिः ॥ १०-५०-२१ ॥
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Just as the wind covers the sun with clouds or a fire with dust, the son of Jarā marched toward the two descendants of Madhu and with his huge assemblage of armies surrounded Them and Their soldiers, chariots, flags, horses and charioteers. ॥ 10-50-21 ॥

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : जिस तरह वायु बादलों से सूर्य को या धूल से अग्नि को ढक लेती है उसी तरह जरा का पुत्र, मधु के दो वंशजों की ओर चल पड़ा और उसने अपनी विशाल सेनाओं से उन्हें तथा उनके सैनिकों, रथों, पताकाओं, घोड़ों तथा सारथियों को घेर लिया। ॥ १०-५०-२१ ॥

सुपर्णतालध्वजचिह्नितौ रथावलक्षयन्त्यो हरिरामयोर्मृधे । स्त्रियः पुराट्टालकहर्म्यगोपुरं समाश्रिताः सम्मुमुहुः शुचार्दिताः ॥ १०-५०-२२ ॥
The women stood in the watchtowers, palaces and high gates of the city. When they could no longer see Kṛṣṇa’s and Balarāma’s chariots, identified by banners marked with the emblems of Garuḍa and a palm tree, they were struck with grief and fainted. ॥ 10-50-22 ॥

स्त्रियाँ अटारियों, महलों तथा नगर के ऊँचे द्वारों पर खड़ी हुई थीं। जब उन्हें कृष्ण तथा बलराम के रथ नहीं दिखाई पड़े, जिनकी पहचान गरुड़ तथा ताड़-वृक्ष के प्रतीकों से चिन्हित पताकाओं से होती थी, तो वे शोकाकुल होकर मूर्च्छित हो गईं। ॥ १०-५०-२२ ॥

हरिः परानीकपयोमुचां मुहुः शिलीमुखात्युल्बणवर्षपीडितम् । स्वसैन्यमालोक्य सुरासुरार्चितं व्यस्फूर्जयच्छार्ङ्गशरासनोत्तमम् ॥ १०-५०-२३ ॥
Seeing His army tormented by the relentless and savage rain of arrows from the massive opposing forces gathered like clouds about Him, Lord Hari twanged His excellent bow, Śārṅga, which both gods and demons worship. ॥ 10-50-23 ॥
english translation
अपने चारों ओर बादलों जैसी विशाल शत्रु सेनाओं के बाणों की भयानक तथा निर्मम वर्षा से अपनी सेना को पीडि़त देखकर भगवान् हरि ने अपने उस उत्तम धनुष शार्ङ्ग पर टंकार की जो देवताओं तथा असुरों दोनों के द्वारा पूजित है। ॥ १०-५०-२३ ॥

गृह्णन् निषङ्गादथ सन्दधच्छरान् विकृष्य मुञ्चन् शितबाणपूगान् । निघ्नन् रथान् कुञ्जरवाजिपत्तीन् निरन्तरं यद्वदलातचक्रम् ॥ १०-५०-२४ ॥
Lord Kṛṣṇa took arrows from His quiver, fixed them on the bowstring, pulled back, and released endless torrents of sharp shafts, which struck the enemy’s chariots, elephants, horses and infantrymen. The Lord shooting His arrows resembled a blazing circle of fire. ॥ 10-50-24 ॥

भगवान् कृष्ण ने अपने तरकस से तीर निकाले, उन्हें प्रत्यंचा (धनुष की डोरी) पर स्थित किया (चढ़ाया), डोरी खींची और तीक्ष्ण बाणों की झड़ी लगा दी जिसने शत्रु के रथों, हाथियों, घोड़ों तथा पैदल सिपाहियों पर जाकर वार किया। भगवान् अपने तीरों को अलात- चक्र की तरह छोड़ रहे थे। ॥ १०-५०-२४ ॥

निर्भिन्नकुम्भाः करिणो निपेतुरनेकशोऽश्वाः शरवृक्णकन्धराः । रथा हताश्वध्वजसूतनायकाः पदातयश्छिन्नभुजोरुकन्धराः ॥ १०-५०-२५ ॥
Elephants fell to the ground, their foreheads split open, cavalry horses fell with severed necks, chariots fell with their horses, flags, drivers and masters all shattered, and foot soldiers collapsed with severed arms, thighs and shoulders. ॥ 10-50-25 ॥
english translation
हाथी धराशायी हो गये, उनके माथे फट गये, कटी गर्दनों वाले सेना के घोड़े गिर गये, रथ घोड़ों, झंडों, सारथियों तथा स्वामियों समेत टूट-फूटकर गिर गये और कटी हुई भुजाओं, जाँघों तथा कन्धों वाले पैदल सिपाहियों ने दम तोड़ दिए। ॥ १०-५०-२५ ॥
