जनेष्वेवं ब्रुवाणेषु तूर्येषु निनदत्सु च । कृष्णरामौ समाभाष्य चाणूरो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥ १०-४३-३१ ॥
While the people talked in this way and the musical instruments resounded, the wrestler Cāṇūra addressed Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma with the following words. ॥ 10-43-31 ॥

जिस समय लोग इस तरह बातें कर रहे थे और तुरहियाँ गूँजने लगीं थी तो पहलवान चाणूर ने कृष्ण तथा बलराम से ये शब्द कहे। ॥ १०-४३-३१ ॥

हे नन्दसूनो हे राम भवन्तौ वीरसम्मतौ । नियुद्धकुशलौ श्रुत्वा राज्ञाऽऽहूतौ दिदृक्षुणा ॥ १०-४३-३२ ॥
[Cāṇūra said:] O son of Nanda, O Rāma, You two are well respected by courageous men and are both skillful at wrestling. Having heard of Your prowess, the King has called You here, wanting to see for himself. ॥ 10-43-32 ॥

[चाणूर ने कहा]: हे नन्दपुत्र, हे राम, तुम दोनों ही साहसी पुरुषों द्वारा समादरित हो और दोनों ही कुश्ती लडऩे में दक्ष हो। तुम्हारे पराक्रम को सुनकर राजा ने स्वत: देखने के उद्देश्य से तुम दोनों को यहाँ बुलाया है। ॥ १०-४३-३२ ॥

प्रियं राज्ञः प्रकुर्वन्त्यः श्रेयो विन्दन्ति वै प्रजाः । मनसा कर्मणा वाचा विपरीतमतोऽन्यथा ॥ १०-४३-३३ ॥
Subjects of the King who try to please him with their thoughts, acts and words are sure to achieve good fortune, but those who fail to do so will suffer the opposite fate. ॥ 10-43-33 ॥

जो प्रजा राजा को अपने विचारों, कर्मों तथा शब्दों से प्रसन्न रखने का प्रयास करती है उसे अवश्य ही सौभाग्य प्राप्त होता है किन्तु जो लोग ऐसा नहीं कर पाते उन्हें विपरीत भाग्य का सामना करना पड़ता है। ॥ १०-४३-३३ ॥

नित्यं प्रमुदिता गोपा वत्सपाला यथा स्फुटम् । वनेषु मल्लयुद्धेन क्रीडन्तश्चारयन्ति गाः ॥ १०-४३-३४ ॥
It is well known that cowherd boys are always joyful as they tend their calves, and that the boys playfully wrestle with each other while grazing their animals in the various forests. ॥ 10-43-34 ॥

यह सर्वविदित है कि ग्वालों के बालक अपने बछड़ों को चराते हुए सदैव प्रमुदित रहते हैं और विविध जंगलों में अपने पशुओं को चराते हुए खेल खेल में कुश्ती लड़ते रहते हैं। ॥ १०-४३-३४ ॥

तस्माद्राज्ञः प्रियं यूयं वयं च करवाम हे । भूतानि नः प्रसीदन्ति सर्वभूतमयो नृपः ॥ १०-४३-३५ ॥
Therefore let’s do what the King wants. Everyone will be pleased with us, for the king embodies all living beings. ॥ 10-43-35 ॥

अत: जो राजा चाहता है हम वही करें। इससे हमारे साथ सारे लोग प्रसन्न होंगे, क्योंकि राजा सारे जीवों से समन्वित रूप होता है। ॥ १०-४३-३५ ॥
