क्रूरस्त्वमक्रूर समाख्यया स्म नश्चक्षुर्हि दत्तं हरसे बताज्ञवत् । येनैकदेशेऽखिलसर्गसौष्ठवं त्वदीयमद्राक्ष्म वयं मधुद्विषः ॥ १०-३९-२१ ॥
O Providence, though you come here with the name Akrūra, you are indeed cruel, for like a fool you are taking away what you once gave us — those eyes with which we have seen, even in one feature of Lord Madhudviṣa’s form, the perfection of your entire creation. ॥ 10-39-21 ॥

हे विधाता, यद्यपि आप यहाँ अक्रूर के नाम से आये हैं किन्तु हैं आप क्रूर क्योंकि आप मूर्खों के समान हमसे उन्हें ही छीने ले रहे हैं, जिन्हें कभी आपने हमें दिया था—हमारी वे आँखें जिनसे हमने भगवान् मधुद्विष के रूप के उस एक में भी आपकी सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि की पूर्णता देखी है। ॥ १०-३९-२१ ॥

न नन्दसूनुः क्षणभङ्गसौहृदः समीक्षते नः स्वकृतातुरा बत । विहाय गेहान् स्वजनान् सुतान् पतींस्तद्दास्यमद्धोपगता नवप्रियः ॥ १०-३९-२२ ॥
Alas, Nanda’s son, who breaks loving friendships in a second, will not even look directly at us. Forcibly brought under His control, we abandoned our homes, relatives, children and husbands just to serve Him, but He is always looking for new lovers. ॥ 10-39-22 ॥

हाय! क्षण-भर में प्रेमपूर्ण मैत्री को भंग करने वाला नन्द का बेटा अब हमको सीधे एकटक देख भी नहीं सकेगा। उसके वशीभूत होकर उसकी सेवा करने के लिए हमने अपने घरों, सम्बन्धियों, बच्चों तथा पतियों तक का परित्याग कर दिया किन्तु वह सदैव नितनये प्रेमियों की खोज में रहता है। ॥ १०-३९-२२ ॥

सुखं प्रभाता रजनीयमाशिषः सत्या बभूवुः पुरयोषितां ध्रुवम् । याः सम्प्रविष्टस्य मुखं व्रजस्पतेः पास्यन्त्यपाङ्गोत्कलितस्मितासवम् ॥ १०-३९-२३ ॥
The dawn following this night will certainly be auspicious for the women of Mathurā. All their hopes will now be fulfilled, for as the Lord of Vraja enters their city, they will be able to drink from His face the nectar of the smile emanating from the corners of His eyes. ॥ 10-39-23 ॥

इस रात्रि के बाद का प्रात:काल निश्चित रूप से मथुरा की स्त्रियों के लिए मंगलमय होगा। अब उनकी सारी आशाएँ पूरी हो जायेंगी क्योंकि जैसे ही व्रजपति उनके नगर में प्रवेश करेंगे वे उनके मुख की तिरछी चितवन से निकलने वाली हँसी के अमृत का पान कर सकेंगी। ॥ १०-३९-२३ ॥

तासां मुकुन्दो मधुमञ्जुभाषितैर्गृहीतचित्तः परवान् मनस्व्यपि । कथं पुनर्नः प्रतियास्यतेऽबला ग्राम्याः सलज्जस्मितविभ्रमैर्भ्रमन् ॥ १०-३९-२४ ॥
O gopīs, although our Mukunda is intelligent and very obedient to His parents, once He has fallen under the spell of the honey-sweet words of the women of Mathurā and been enchanted by their alluring, shy smiles, how will He ever return to us unsophisticated village girls? ॥ 10-39-24 ॥

हे गोपियो, यद्यपि हमारा मुकुन्द बुद्धिमान तथा अपने माता-पिता का अत्यन्त आज्ञाकारी है किन्तु एक बार मथुरा की स्त्रियों के मधु सदृश मीठे शब्दों के जादू में आ जाने और उनकी आकर्षक लजीली मुसकानों से मुग्ध हो जाने पर भला वह हम गँवार देहाती अबलाओं के पास फिर कभी क्यों लौटने लगा? ॥ १०-३९-२४ ॥

अद्य ध्रुवं तत्र दृशो भविष्यते दाशार्हभोजान्धकवृष्णिसात्वताम् । महोत्सवः श्रीरमणं गुणास्पदं द्रक्ष्यन्ति ये चाध्वनि देवकीसुतम् ॥ १०-३९-२५ ॥
When the Dāśārhas, Bhojas, Andhakas, Vṛṣṇis and Sātvatas see the son of Devakī in Mathurā, they will certainly enjoy a great festival for their eyes, as will all those who see Him traveling along the road to the city. After all, He is the darling of the goddess of fortune and the reservoir of all transcendental qualities. ॥ 10-39-25 ॥

जब दाशार्ह, भोज, अन्धक, वृष्णि तथा सात्वत लोग मथुरा में देवकी के पुत्र को देखेंगे तो उनके नेत्रों के लिए महान् उत्सव तो होगा ही, साथ ही साथ नगर के मार्ग में यात्रा करते हुए जो लोग उन्हें देखेंगे उनके लिए भी महान् उत्सव होगा। आखिर, वे श्री लक्ष्मीजी के प्रियतम और समस्त दिव्य गुणों के आगार जो हैं। ॥ १०-३९-२५ ॥
