तासां मुकुन्दो मधुमञ्जुभाषितैर्गृहीतचित्तः परवान् मनस्व्यपि । कथं पुनर्नः प्रतियास्यतेऽबला ग्राम्याः सलज्जस्मितविभ्रमैर्भ्रमन् ॥ १०-३९-२४ ॥

O gopīs, although our Mukunda is intelligent and very obedient to His parents, once He has fallen under the spell of the honey-sweet words of the women of Mathurā and been enchanted by their alluring, shy smiles, how will He ever return to us unsophisticated village girls? ॥ 10-39-24 ॥

english translation

हे गोपियो, यद्यपि हमारा मुकुन्द बुद्धिमान तथा अपने माता-पिता का अत्यन्त आज्ञाकारी है किन्तु एक बार मथुरा की स्त्रियों के मधु सदृश मीठे शब्दों के जादू में आ जाने और उनकी आकर्षक लजीली मुसकानों से मुग्ध हो जाने पर भला वह हम गँवार देहाती अबलाओं के पास फिर कभी क्यों लौटने लगा? ॥ १०-३९-२४ ॥
