गोप्य ऊचुः जयति तेऽधिकं जन्मना व्रजः श्रयत इन्दिरा शश्वदत्र हि । दयित दृश्यतां दिक्षु तावकास्त्वयि धृतासवस्त्वां विचिन्वते ।। १०-३१-१ ।।

sanskrit

The gopīs said: O beloved, Your birth in the land of Vraja has made it exceedingly glorious, and thus Indirā, the goddess of fortune, always resides here. It is only for Your sake that we, Your devoted servants, maintain our lives. We have been searching everywhere for You, so please show Yourself to us. ।। 10-31-1 ।।

english translation

गोपियों ने कहा : हे प्रियतम, व्रजभूमि में तुम्हारा जन्म होने से ही यह भूमि अत्यधिक महिमावान हो उठी है और इसीलिए इन्दिरा (लक्ष्मी) यहाँ सदैव निवास करती हैं। केवल तुम्हारे लिए ही तुम्हारी भक्त दासियाँ हम अपना जीवन पाल रही हैं। हम तुम्हें सर्वत्र ढूँढ़ती रही हैं अत: कृपा करके हमें अपना दर्शन दीजिये। ।। १०-३१-१ ।।

शरदुदाशये साधुजातसत्सरसिजोदर श्रीमुषा दृशा । सुरतनाथ तेऽशुल्कदासिका वरद निघ्नतो नेह किं वधः ।। १०-३१-२ ।।

sanskrit

O Lord of love, in beauty Your glance excels the whorl of the finest, most perfectly formed lotus within the autumn pond. O bestower of benedictions, You are killing the maidservants who have given themselves to You freely, without any price. Isn’t this murder? ।। 10-31-2 ।।

english translation

हे प्रेम के स्वामी, आपकी चितवन शरदकालीन जलाशय के भीतर सुन्दरतम सुनिर्मित कमल के कोश की सुन्दरता को मात देने वाली है। हे वर-दाता, आप उन दासियों का वध कर रहे हैं जिन्होंने बिना मोल ही अपने को आपको पूर्ण रूप से समर्पित कर दिया है। क्या यह वध नहीं है? ।। १०-३१-२ ।।

विषजलाप्ययाद्व्यालराक्षसाद्वर्षमारुताद्वैद्युतानलात् । वृषमयात्मजाद्विश्वतोभयादृषभ ते वयं रक्षिता मुहुः ।। १०-३१-३ ।।

sanskrit

O greatest of personalities, You have repeatedly saved us from all kinds of danger — from poisoned water, from the terrible man-eater Agha, from the great rains, from the wind demon, from the fiery thunderbolt of Indra, from the bull demon and from the son of Maya Dānava. ।। 10-31-3 ।।

english translation

हे पुरुषश्रेष्ठ, आपने हम सबों को विविध प्रकार के संकटों से—यथा विषैले जल से, मानवभक्षी भयंकर अघासुर से, मूसलाधार वर्षा से, तृणावर्त से, इन्द्र के अग्नि तुल्य वज्र से, वृषासुर से तथा मय दानव के पुत्र से बारम्बार बचाया है। ।। १०-३१-३ ।।

न खलु गोपिकानन्दनो भवानखिलदेहिनामन्तरात्मदृक् । विखनसार्थितो विश्वगुप्तये सख उदेयिवान् सात्वतां कुले ।। १०-३१-४ ।।

sanskrit

You are not actually the son of the gopī Yaśodā, O friend, but rather the indwelling witness in the hearts of all embodied souls. Because Lord Brahmā prayed for You to come and protect the universe, You have now appeared in the Sātvata dynasty. ।। 10-31-4 ।।

english translation

हे सखा, आप वास्तव में गोपी यशोदा के पुत्र नहीं अपितु समस्त देहधारियों के हृदयों में अन्तस्थ साक्षी हैं। चूँकि ब्रह्माजी ने आपसे अवतरित होने एवं ब्रह्माण्ड की रक्षा करने के लिए प्रार्थना की थी इसलिए अब आप सात्वत कुल में प्रकट हुए हैं। ।। १०-३१-४ ।।

विरचिताभयं वृष्णिधुर्य ते चरणमीयुषां संसृतेर्भयात् । करसरोरुहं कान्त कामदं शिरसि धेहि नः श्रीकरग्रहम् ।। १०-३१-५ ।।

sanskrit

O best of the Vṛṣṇis, Your lotuslike hand, which holds the hand of the goddess of fortune, grants fearlessness to those who approach Your feet out of fear of material existence. O lover, please place that wish-fulfilling lotus hand on our heads. ।। 10-31-5 ।।

english translation

हे वृष्णिश्रेष्ठ, लक्ष्मीजी के हाथ को थामने वाला आपका कमल सदृश हाथ उन लोगों को अभय दान देता है, जो भवसागर के भय से आपके चरणों के निकट पहुँचते हैं। हे प्रियतम, उसी कामना को पूर्ण करने वाले करकमल को हमारे सिरों के ऊपर रखें। ।। १०-३१-५ ।।
