श्रीशुक उवाच गोवर्धने धृते शैले आसाराद्रक्षिते व्रजे । गोलोकादाव्रजत्कृष्णं सुरभिः शक्र एव च ।। १०-२७-१ ।।

sanskrit

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: After Kṛṣṇa had lifted Govardhana Hill and thus protected the inhabitants of Vraja from the terrible rainfall, Surabhi, the mother of the cows, came from her planet to see Kṛṣṇa. She was accompanied by Indra. ।। 10-27-1 ।।

english translation

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : कृष्ण के गोवर्धन पर्वत उठाने तथा भयंकर वर्षा से व्रजवासियों की रक्षा करने के बाद गौवों की माता सुरभि गो-लोक से कृष्ण का दर्शन करने आईं। उनके साथ इन्द्र था। ।। १०-२७-१ ।।

विविक्त उपसङ्गम्य व्रीडीतः कृतहेलनः । पस्पर्श पादयोरेनं किरीटेनार्कवर्चसा ।। १०-२७-२ ।।

sanskrit

Indra was very ashamed of having offended the Lord. Approaching Him in a solitary place, Indra fell down and lay his helmet, whose effulgence was as brilliant as the sun, upon the Lord’s lotus feet. ।। 10-27-2 ।।

english translation

भगवान् का अपमान करने के कारण इन्द्र अत्यन्त लज्जित था। एकान्त स्थान में उनके पास जाकर इन्द्र उनके चरणों पर गिर पड़ा और सूर्य के समान तेज वाले मुकुट को भगवान् के चरणकमलों पर रख दिया। ।। १०-२७-२ ।।

दृष्टश्रुतानुभावोऽस्य कृष्णस्यामिततेजसः । नष्टत्रिलोकेशमद इन्द्र आह कृताञ्जलिः ।। १०-२७-३ ।।

sanskrit

Indra had now heard of and seen the transcendental power of omnipotent Kṛṣṇa, and his false pride in being the lord of the three worlds was thus defeated. Holding his hands together in supplication, he addressed the Lord as follows. ।। 10-27-3 ।।

english translation

अब तक इन्द्र सर्वशक्तिमान कृष्ण की दिव्य शक्ति को सुन तथा देख चुका था और इस तरह तीनों जगतों के स्वामी होने का उसका मिथ्या गर्व चूर हो चुका था। याचना के लिए दोनों हाथ जोडक़र उसने भगवान् को इस प्रकार सम्बोधित किया। ।। १०-२७-३ ।।

इन्द्र उवाच विशुद्धसत्त्वं तव धाम शान्तं तपोमयं ध्वस्तरजस्तमस्कम् । मायामयोऽयं गुणसम्प्रवाहो न विद्यते तेऽग्रहणानुबन्धः ।। १०-२७-४ ।।

sanskrit

King Indra said: Your transcendental form, a manifestation of pure goodness, is undisturbed by change, shining with knowledge and devoid of passion and ignorance. In You does not exist the mighty flow of the modes of material nature, which is based on illusion and ignorance. ।। 10-27-4 ।।

english translation

राजा इन्द्र ने कहा : आपका दिव्य रूप शुद्ध सतोगुण का प्राकट्य है, यह परिवर्तन से विचलित नहीं होता, ज्ञान से चमकता रहता है और रजो तथा तमोगुणों से रहित है। आपके भीतर माया तथा अज्ञान पर आश्रित भौतिक गुणों का प्रबल प्रवाह नहीं पाया जाता। ।। १०-२७-४ ।।

indra uvAca vizuddhasattvaM tava dhAma zAntaM tapomayaM dhvastarajastamaskam | mAyAmayo'yaM guNasampravAho na vidyate te'grahaNAnubandhaH || 10-27-4 ||

कुतो नु तद्धेतव ईश तत्कृता लोभादयो येऽबुधलिङ्गभावाः । तथापि दण्डं भगवान् बिभर्ति धर्मस्य गुप्त्यै खलनिग्रहाय ।। १०-२७-५ ।।

How, then, could there exist in You the symptoms of an ignorant person — such as greed, lust, anger and envy — which are produced by one’s previous involvement in material existence and which cause one to become further entangled in material existence? And yet as the Supreme Lord You impose punishment to protect religious principles and curb down the wicked. ।। 10-27-5 ।।

english translation

तो भला आपमें अज्ञानी व्यक्ति के लक्षण—यथा लोभ, काम, क्रोध तथा ईर्ष्या—किस तरह रह सकते हैं क्योंकि इनकी उत्पत्ति संसार में मनुष्य की पूर्व-लिप्तता के कारण होती है और ये मनुष्य को संसार में अधिकाधिक जकड़ते जाते हैं? फिर भी हे परमेश्वर, आप धर्म की रक्षा करने तथा दुष्टों का दमन करने के लिए उन्हें दण्ड देते हैं। ।। १०-२७-५ ।।
