तांस्तथा कातरान् वीक्ष्य भगवान् माधवो बलः । प्रहस्य किञ्चिन्नोवाच प्रभावज्ञोऽनुजस्य सः ।। १०-१६-१६ ।।

sanskrit

The Supreme Lord Balarāma, the master of all transcendental knowledge, smiled and said nothing when He saw the residents of Vṛndāvana in such distress, since He understood the extraordinary power of His younger brother. ।। 10-16-16 ।।

english translation

समस्त दिव्य ज्ञान के स्वामी भगवान् बलराम हँसने लगे और वृन्दावन-वासियों को इस तरह व्याकुल देखकर कुछ भी नहीं बोले क्योंकि उन्हें अपने छोटे भाई के असाधारण बल का पता था। ।। १०-१६-१६ ।।

तेऽन्वेषमाणा दयितं कृष्णं सूचितया पदैः । भगवल्लक्षणैर्जग्मुः पदव्या यमुनातटम् ।। १०-१६-१७ ।।

sanskrit

The residents hurried toward the banks of the Yamunā in search of their dearmost Kṛṣṇa, following the path marked by His footprints, which bore the unique signs of the Personality of Godhead. ।। 10-16-17 ।।

english translation

वृन्दावन के निवासी कृष्ण के पदचिन्हों का अनुसरण करते हुए अपने सर्वप्रिय कृष्ण की खोज में यमुना के किनारे की ओर दौड़े चले गये क्योंकि उन पदचिन्हों में भगवान् के अनूठे चिन्ह थे। ।। १०-१६-१७ ।।

ते तत्र तत्राब्जयवाङ्कुशाशनिध्वजोपपन्नानि पदानि विश्पतेः । मार्गे गवामन्यपदान्तरान्तरे निरीक्षमाणा ययुरङ्ग सत्वराः ।। १०-१६-१८ ।।

sanskrit

The footprints of Lord Kṛṣṇa, the master of the entire cowherd community, were marked with the lotus flower, barleycorn, elephant goad, thunderbolt and flag. My dear King Parīkṣit, seeing His footprints on the path among the cows’ hoofprints, the residents of Vṛndāvana rushed along in great haste. ।। 10-16-18 ।।

english translation

समस्त ग्वाल समुदाय के स्वामी भगवान् कृष्ण के पदचिन्ह कमल के फूल, जौ, हाथी के अंकुश, वज्र तथा पताका से युक्त थे। हे राजा परीक्षित, मार्ग में गौवों के पदचिन्हों के बीच बीच में उनके पदचिन्हों को देखते हुए वृन्दावन के निवासी तेजी से दौड़े चले गये। ।। १०-१६-१८ ।।

अन्तर्ह्रदे भुजगभोगपरीतमारात्कृष्णं निरीहमुपलभ्य जलाशयान्ते । गोपांश्च मूढधिषणान् परितः पशूंश्च सङ्क्रन्दतः परमकश्मलमापुरार्ताः ।। १०-१६-१९ ।।

sanskrit

As they hurried along the path to the bank of the Yamunā River, they saw from a distance that Kṛṣṇa was in the lake, motionless within the coils of the black serpent. They further saw that the cowherd boys had fallen unconscious and that the animals were standing on all sides, crying out for Kṛṣṇa. Seeing all this, the residents of Vṛndāvana were overwhelmed with anguish and confusion. ।। 10-16-19 ।।

english translation

ज्योंही वे यमुना नदी के किनारे की ओर भागे जा रहे थे त्योंही उन्होंने दूर से देखा कि कृष्ण सरोवर में काले साँप की कुण्डली में निश्चेष्ट पड़े हैं। उन्होंने यह भी देखा कि सारे ग्वालबाल मूर्छित होकर पड़े हैं और सारे पशु उनके चारों ओर खड़े होकर कृष्ण के लिए रम्भा रहे हैं। यह दृश्य देखकर वृन्दावनवासी वेदना तथा भ्रम के कारण विह्वल हो उठे। ।। १०-१६-१९ ।।

गोप्योऽनुरक्तमनसो भगवत्यनन्ते तत्सौहृदस्मितविलोकगिरः स्मरन्त्यः । ग्रस्तेऽहिना प्रियतमे भृशदुःखतप्ताः शून्यं प्रियव्यतिहृतं ददृशुस्त्रिलोकम् ।। १०-१६-२० ।।

sanskrit

When the young gopīs, whose minds were constantly attached to Kṛṣṇa, the unlimited Supreme Lord, saw that He was now within the grips of the serpent, they remembered His loving friendship, His smiling glances and His talks with them. Burning with great sorrow, they saw the entire universe as void. ।। 10-16-20 ।।

english translation

जब युवती गोपियों ने, जिनके मन निरंतर अनन्त भगवान् कृष्ण में अनुरक्त रहते थे, देखा कि वे कालिय के चंगुल में हैं, तो उन्हें उनकी मित्रता, उनकी मुसकान-भरी चितवन तथा उनके बचनों का स्मरण हो आया। अत्यन्त शोक से संतप्त होने के कारण उन्हें सारा ब्रह्माण्ड शून्य (रिक्त) दिखाई पडऩे लगा। ।। १०-१६-२० ।।
