(अनुजल्पति जल्पन्तं कलवाक्यैः शुकं क्वचित् । क्वचित्स वल्गु कूजन्तमनुकूजति कोकिलम् ॥) क्वचिच्च कलहंसानामनुकूजति कूजितम् । अभिनृत्यति नृत्यन्तं बर्हिणं हासयन् क्वचित् ।। १०-१५-११ ।।

sanskrit

Sometimes Lord Kṛṣṇa would imitate the chattering of a parrot, sometimes, with a sweet voice, the call of a cuckoo, and sometimes the cooing of swans. Sometimes He vigorously imitated the dancing of a peacock, making His cowherd boyfriends laugh. ।। 10-15-11 ।।

english translation

भगवान् कृष्ण कभी कोयल की बोली की नकल उतारते तो कभी हंसों के कलरव की नकल उतारते। कभी वे मोर के नृत्य की नकल उतारते जिस पर उनके ग्वालमित्र खिलखिला पड़ते। ।। १०-१५-११ ।।

मेघगम्भीरया वाचा नामभिर्दूरगान् पशून् । क्वचिदाह्वयति प्रीत्या गोगोपालमनोज्ञया ।। १०-१५-१२ ।।

sanskrit

Sometimes, with a voice as deep as the rumbling of clouds, He would call out with great affection the names of the animals who had wandered far from the herd, thus enchanting the cows and the cowherd boys. ।। 10-15-12 ।।

english translation

कभी कभी वे बादलों जैसे गम्भीर गर्जन के स्वर में झुंड से दूर गये हुए पशुओं का नाम लेकर बड़े प्यार से पुकारते जिससे गौवें तथा ग्वालबाल मुग्ध हो जाते। ।। १०-१५-१२ ।।

चकोरक्रौञ्चचक्राह्वभारद्वाजांश्च बर्हिणः । अनुरौति स्म सत्त्वानां भीतवद्व्याघ्रसिंहयोः ।। १०-१५-१३ ।।

sanskrit

Sometimes He would cry out in imitation of birds such as the cakoras, krauñcas, cakrāhvas, bhāradvājas and peacocks, and sometimes He would run away with the smaller animals in mock fear of lions and tigers. ।। 10-15-13 ।।

english translation

कभी कभी वे चकोर, क्रौंच, चक्राह्व, भारद्वाज जैसी पक्षियों की नकल करके चिल्लाते और कभी छोटे पशुओं के साथ बाघों तथा शेरों के बनावटी भय से भागने लगते। ।। १०-१५-१३ ।।

क्वचित्क्रीडापरिश्रान्तं गोपोत्सङ्गोपबर्हणम् । स्वयं विश्रमयत्यार्यं पादसंवाहनादिभिः ।। १०-१५-१४ ।।

sanskrit

When His elder brother, fatigued from playing, would lie down with His head upon the lap of a cowherd boy, Lord Kṛṣṇa would help Him relax by personally massaging His feet and offering other services. ।। 10-15-14 ।।

english translation

जब उनके बड़े भाई खेलते खेलते थक कर अपना सिर किसी ग्वालबाल की गोद में रखकर लेट जाते तो भगवान् कृष्ण स्वयं बलराम के पाँव दबाकर तथा अन्य सेवाएँ करके उनकी थकान दूर करते। ।। १०-१५-१४ ।।

नृत्यतो गायतः क्वापि वल्गतो युध्यतो मिथः । गृहीतहस्तौ गोपालान् हसन्तौ प्रशशंसतुः ।। १०-१५-१५ ।।

sanskrit

Sometimes, as the cowherd boys danced, sang, moved about and playfully fought with each other, Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, standing nearby hand in hand, would glorify Their friends’ activities and laugh. ।। 10-15-15 ।।

english translation

कभी कभी, जब ग्वालबाल नाचते, गाते, इधर उधर घूमते और खेल खेल में एक दूसरे से झगड़ते तो पास ही हाथ में हाथ डाले खड़े होकर कृष्ण तथा बलराम अपने मित्रों के कार्यकलापों की प्रशंसा करते और हँसते। ।। १०-१५-१५ ।।
