श्रीशुक उवाच ततश्च पौगण्डवयः श्रितौ व्रजे बभूवतुस्तौ पशुपालसम्मतौ । गाश्चारयन्तौ सखिभिः समं पदैः वृन्दावनं पुण्यमतीव चक्रतुः ।। १०-१५-१ ।।

sanskrit

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: When Lord Rāma and Lord Kṛṣṇa attained the age of paugaṇḍa [six to ten] while living in Vṛndāvana, the cowherd men allowed Them to take up the task of tending the cows. Engaging thus in the company of Their friends, the two boys rendered the land of Vṛndāvana most auspicious by imprinting upon it the marks of Their lotus feet. ।। 10-15-1 ।।

english translation

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : वृन्दावन में रहते हुए जब राम तथा कृष्ण ने पौगण्ड अवस्था (६-१० वर्ष) प्राप्त कर ली तो ग्वालों ने उन्हें गौवें चराने के कार्य की अनुमति प्रदान कर दी। इस तरह अपने मित्रों के साथ इन दोनों बालकों ने वृन्दावन को अपने चरणकमलों के चिन्हों से अत्यन्त पावन बना दिया। ।। १०-१५-१ ।।

तन्माधवो वेणुमुदीरयन् वृतो गोपैर्गृणद्भिः स्वयशो बलान्वितः । पशून् पुरस्कृत्य पशव्यमाविशद्विहर्तुकामः कुसुमाकरं वनम् ।। १०-१५-२ ।।

sanskrit

Thus desiring to enjoy pastimes, Lord Mādhava, sounding His flute, surrounded by cowherd boys who were chanting His glories, and accompanied by Lord Baladeva, kept the cows before Him and entered the Vṛndāvana forest, which was full of flowers and rich with nourishment for the animals. ।। 10-15-2 ।।

english translation

इस तरह अपनी लीलाओं का आनंद उठाने की इच्छा से अपनी वंशी बजाते हुए और अपने गुणगान कर रहे ग्वालबालों से घिरे हुए तथा बलदेव के साथ जाते हुए माधव ने गौवों को अपने आगे कर लिया और वृन्दावन के जंगल में प्रवेश किया जो फूलों से लदा था और पशुओं के स्वास्थ्य-प्रद चारे से भरा पड़ा था। ।। १०-१५-२ ।।

तन्मञ्जुघोषालिमृगद्विजाकुलं महन्मनःप्रख्यपयःसरस्वता । वातेन जुष्टं शतपत्रगन्धिना निरीक्ष्य रन्तुं भगवान् मनो दधे ।। १०-१५-३ ।।

The Supreme Personality of Godhead looked over that forest, which resounded with the charming sounds of bees, animals and birds, and which was enhanced by a lake whose clear water resembled the minds of great souls and by a breeze carrying the fragrance of hundred-petaled lotuses. Seeing all this, Lord Kṛṣṇa decided to enjoy the auspicious atmosphere. ।। 10-15-3 ।।

english translation

भगवान् ने उस जंगल पर दृष्टि दौड़ाई जो भौंरों, पशुओं तथा पक्षियों की मनोहर गुंजार से गूँजायमान हो रहा था। इसकी शोभा महात्माओं के मन के समान स्वच्छ जल वाले सरोवर से तथा सौ पंखडिय़ों वाले कमलों की सुगन्धि ले जाने वाली मन्द वायु से भी बढक़र थी। यह सब देखकर भगवान् कृष्ण ने इस पवित्र वातावरण का आनन्द लेने का निश्चय किया। ।। १०-१५-३ ।।

स तत्र तत्रारुणपल्लवश्रिया फलप्रसूनोरुभरेण पादयोः । स्पृशच्छिखान् वीक्ष्य वनस्पतीन् मुदा स्मयन्निवाहाग्रजमादिपूरुषः ।। १०-१५-४ ।।

sanskrit

The primeval Lord saw that the stately trees, with their beautiful reddish buds and their heavy burden of fruits and flowers, were bending down to touch His feet with the tips of their branches. Thus He smiled gently and addressed His elder brother. ।। 10-15-4 ।।

english translation

आदि परमेश्वर ने देखा कि शानदार वृक्ष अपनी सुन्दर लाल-लाल कलियों तथा फलों और फूलों के भार से लदकर अपनी शाखाओं के सिरों से उनके चरणों को स्पर्श करने के लिए झुक रहे हैं। तब मन्द हास करते हुए वे अपने बड़े भाई से बोले। ।। १०-१५-४ ।।

श्रीभगवानुवाच अहो अमी देव वरामरार्चितं पादाम्बुजं ते सुमनःफलार्हणम् । नमन्त्युपादाय शिखाभिरात्मनस्तमोऽपहत्यै तरुजन्म यत्कृतम् ।। १०-१५-५ ।।

sanskrit

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O greatest of Lords, just see how these trees are bowing their heads at Your lotus feet, which are worshipable by the immortal demigods. The trees are offering You their fruits and flowers to eradicate the dark ignorance that has caused their birth as trees. ।। 10-15-5 ।।

english translation

भगवान् ने कहा : हे देवश्रेष्ठ, देखें न, ये वृक्ष जो अमर देवताओं द्वारा पूज्य हैं आपके चरणकमलों पर किस तरह अपना सिर झुका रहे हैं। ये वृक्ष उस गहन अज्ञान को दूर करने के लिए आपको अपने फल तथा फूल अर्पित कर रहे हैं जिसके कारण उन्हें वृक्षों का जन्म धारण करना पड़ा है। ।। १०-१५-५ ।।
