यावन्तो गोकुले बालाः सवत्साः सर्व एव हि । मायाशये शयाना मे नाद्यापि पुनरुत्थिताः ॥ १०-१३-४१ ॥
Lord Brahmā thought: Whatever boys and calves there were in Gokula, I have kept them sleeping on the bed of my mystic potency, and to this very day they have not yet risen again. ॥ 10-13-41 ॥
english translation
भगवान् ब्रह्मा ने सोचा: गोकुल के जितने भी बालक तथा बछड़े थे उन्हें मैंने अपनी योगशक्ति की सेज पर सुला रखा है और आज के दिन तक वे जगे नहीं हैं। ॥ १०-१३-४१ ॥

इत एतेऽत्र कुत्रत्या मन्मायामोहितेतरे । तावन्त एव तत्राब्दं क्रीडन्तो विष्णुना समम् ॥ १०-१३-४२ ॥
A similar number of boys and calves have been playing with Kṛṣṇa for one whole year, yet they are different from the ones illusioned by my mystic potency. Who are they? Where did they come from? ॥ 10-13-42 ॥

यद्यपि पूरे एक वर्ष तक कृष्ण के साथ उतने ही बालक तथा बछड़े खेलते रहे फिर भी ये मेरी योगशक्ति से मोहित बालकों से भिन्न हैं। ये कौन हैं? ये कहाँ से आये? ॥ १०-१३-४२ ॥

एवमेतेषु भेदेषु चिरं ध्यात्वा स आत्मभूः । सत्याः के कतरे नेति ज्ञातुं नेष्टे कथञ्चन ॥ १०-१३-४३ ॥
Thus Lord Brahmā, thinking and thinking for a long time, tried to distinguish between those two sets of boys, who were each separately existing. He tried to understand who was real and who was not real, but he couldn’t understand at all. ॥ 10-13-43 ॥

इस तरह दीर्घकाल तक विचार करते करते भगवान् ब्रह्मा ने उन दो प्रकार के बालकों में अन्तर जानने का प्रयास किया जो एक-दूसरे से पृथक् रह रहे थे। वे यह जानने का प्रयास करते रहे कि कौन असली है और कौन नकली है किन्तु वे कुछ भी नहीं समझ पाये। ॥ १०-१३-४३ ॥

एवं सम्मोहयन् विष्णुं विमोहं विश्वमोहनम् । स्वयैव माययाजोऽपि स्वयमेव विमोहितः ॥ १०-१३-४४ ॥
Thus because Lord Brahmā wanted to mystify the all-pervading Lord Kṛṣṇa, who can never be mystified, but who, on the contrary, mystifies the entire universe, he himself was put into bewilderment by his own mystic power. ॥ 10-13-44 ॥

चूँकि ब्रह्मा ने सर्वव्यापी भगवान् कृष्ण को, जो कभी मोहित नहीं किये जा सकते अपितु सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड को मोहित करने वाले हैं, मोहित करना चाहा इसलिए वे स्वयं ही अपनी योगशक्ति द्वारा मोह में फँस गये। ॥ १०-१३-४४ ॥

तम्यां तमोवन्नैहारं खद्योतार्चिरिवाहनि । महतीतरमायैश्यं निहन्त्यात्मनि युञ्जतः ॥ १०-१३-४५ ॥
As the darkness of snow on a dark night and the light of a glowworm in the light of day have no value, the mystic power of an inferior person who tries to use it against a person of great power is unable to accomplish anything; instead, the power of that inferior person is diminished. ॥ 10-13-45 ॥
english translation
जिस तरह अँधेरी रात में बर्फ का अँधेरा तथा दिन के समय जुगनू के प्रकाश का कोई महत्व नहीं होता, उसी तरह निकृष्ट व्यक्ति की योगशक्ति महान् शक्तिशाली व्यक्ति के विरुद्ध प्रयोग किये जाने पर कुछ भी नहीं कर पाती, उलटे उस निकृष्ट व्यक्ति की शक्ति कम हो जाती है। ॥ १०-१३-४५ ॥
