श्रीशुक उवाच साधु पृष्टं महाभाग त्वया भागवतोत्तम । यन्नूतनयसीशस्य श‍ृण्वन्नपि कथां मुहुः ।। १०-१३-१ ।।

sanskrit

Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: O best of devotees, most fortunate Parīkṣit, you have inquired very nicely, for although constantly hearing the pastimes of the Lord, you are perceiving His activities to be newer and newer. ।। 10-13-1 ।।

english translation

श्रील शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : हे भक्त शिरोमणि, परम भाग्यशाली परीक्षित, तुमने बहुत सुन्दर प्रश्न किया है क्योंकि भगवान् की लीलाओं को निरन्तर सुनने पर भी तुम उनके कार्यों को नित्य नूतन रूप में अनुभव कर रहे हो। ।। १०-१३-१ ।।

सतामयं सारभृतां निसर्गो यदर्थवाणीश्रुतिचेतसामपि । प्रतिक्षणं नव्यवदच्युतस्य यत् स्त्रिया विटानामिव साधुवार्ता ।। १०-१३-२ ।।

sanskrit

Paramahaṁsas, devotees who have accepted the essence of life, are attached to Kṛṣṇa in the core of their hearts, and He is the aim of their lives. It is their nature to talk only of Kṛṣṇa at every moment, as if such topics were newer and newer. They are attached to such topics, just as materialists are attached to topics of women and sex. ।। 10-13-2 ।।

english translation

जीवन-सार को स्वीकार करने वाले परमहंस भक्त अपने अन्त:करण से कृष्ण के प्रति अनुरक्त होते हैं और कृष्ण ही उनके जीवन के लक्ष्य रहते हैं। प्रतिक्षण कृष्ण की ही चर्चा करना उनका स्वभाव होता है, मानो ये कथाएँ नित्य नूतन हों। वे इन कथाओं के प्रति उसी तरह अनुरक्त रहते हैं जिस तरह भौतिकतावादी लोग स्त्रियों तथा विषय-वासना की चर्चाओं में रस लेते हैं। ।। १०-१३-२ ।।

श‍ृणुष्वावहितो राजन्नपि गुह्यं वदामि ते । ब्रूयुः स्निग्धस्य शिष्यस्य गुरवो गुह्यमप्युत ।। १०-१३-३ ।।

sanskrit

O King, kindly hear me with great attention. Although the activities of the Supreme Lord are very confidential, no ordinary man being able to understand them, I shall speak about them to you, for spiritual masters explain to a submissive disciple even subject matters that are very confidential and difficult to understand. ।। 10-13-3 ।।

english translation

हे राजन्, मेरी बात ध्यानपूर्वक सुनें। यद्यपि भगवान् की लीलाएँ अत्यन्त गुह्य हैं और सामान्य व्यक्ति उन्हें नहीं समझ सकता किन्तु मैं तुमसे उनके विषय में कहूँगा क्योंकि गुरुजन विनीत शिष्य को गुह्य से गुह्य तथा कठिन से कठिन विषयों को भी बता देते हैं। ।। १०-१३-३ ।।

तथाघवदनान्मृत्यो रक्षित्वा वत्सपालकान् । सरित्पुलिनमानीय भगवानिदमब्रवीत् ।। १०-१३-४ ।।

sanskrit

Then, after saving the boys and calves from the mouth of Aghāsura, who was death personified, Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, brought them all to the bank of the river and spoke the following words. ।। 10-13-4 ।।

english translation

मृत्यु रूप अघासुर के मुख से बालकों तथा बछड़ों को बचाने के बाद भगवान् कृष्ण उन सब को नदी के तट पर ले आये और उनसे निम्नलिखित शब्द कहे। ।। १०-१३-४ ।।

अहोऽतिरम्यं पुलिनं वयस्याः स्वकेलिसम्पन्मृदुलाच्छवालुकम् । स्फुटत्सरोगन्धहृतालिपत्रिकध्वनिप्रतिध्वानलसद्द्रुमाकुलम् ।। १०-१३-५ ।।

sanskrit

My dear friends, just see how this riverbank is extremely beautiful because of its pleasing atmosphere. And just see how the blooming lotuses are attracting bees and birds by their aroma. The humming and chirping of the bees and birds is echoing throughout the beautiful trees in the forest. Also, here the sands are clean and soft. Therefore, this must be considered the best place for our sporting and pastimes. ।। 10-13-5 ।।

english translation

मित्रो, देखो न, यह नदी का किनारा अपने मोहक वातावरण के कारण कितना रम्य लगता है! देखो न, खिले कमल किस तरह अपनी सुगन्ध से भौरों तथा पक्षियों को आकृष्ट कर रहे हैं। भौरों की गुनगुनाहट तथा पक्षियों की चहचहाहट जंगल के सभी सुन्दर वृक्षों से प्रतिध्वनित हो रही है। और यहाँ की बालू साफ तथा मुलायम है। अत: हमारे खेल तथा हमारी लीलाओं के लिए यह सर्वोत्तम स्थान है। ।। १०-१३-५ ।।
