अत्र भोक्तव्यमस्माभिर्दिवा रूढं क्षुधार्दिताः । वत्साः समीपेऽपः पीत्वा चरन्तु शनकैस्तृणम् ।। १०-१३-६ ।।

sanskrit

I think we should take our lunch here, since we are already hungry because the time is very late. Here the calves may drink water and go slowly here and there and eat the grass. ।। 10-13-6 ।।

english translation

मेरे विचार में हम यहाँ भोजन करें क्योंकि विलम्ब हो जाने से हम भूखे हो उठे हैं। यहाँ बछड़े पानी पी सकते हैं और धीरे धीरे इधर-उधर जाकर घास चर सकते हैं। ।। १०-१३-६ ।।

तथेति पाययित्वार्भा वत्सानारुध्य शाद्वले । मुक्त्वा शिक्यानि बुभुजुः समं भगवता मुदा ।। १०-१३-७ ।।

sanskrit

Accepting Lord Kṛṣṇa’s proposal, the cowherd boys allowed the calves to drink water from the river and then tied them to trees where there was green, tender grass. Then the boys opened their baskets of food and began eating with Kṛṣṇa in great transcendental pleasure. ।। 10-13-7 ।।

english translation

भगवान् कृष्ण के प्रस्ताव को मान कर ग्वालबालों ने बछड़ों को नदी में पानी पीने दिया और फिर उन्हें वृक्षों से बाँध दिया जहाँ हरी मुलायम घास थी। तब बालकों ने अपने भोजन की पोटलियाँ खोलीं और दिव्य आनन्द से पूरित होकर कृष्ण के साथ खाने लगे। ।। १०-१३-७ ।।

कृष्णस्य विष्वक्पुरुराजिमण्डलैरभ्याननाः फुल्लदृशो व्रजार्भकाः । सहोपविष्टा विपिने विरेजुश्छदा यथाम्भोरुहकर्णिकायाः ।। १०-१३-८ ।।

sanskrit

Like the whorl of a lotus flower surrounded by its petals and leaves, Kṛṣṇa sat in the center, encircled by lines of His friends, who all looked very beautiful. Every one of them was trying to look forward toward Kṛṣṇa, thinking that Kṛṣṇa might look toward him. In this way they all enjoyed their lunch in the forest. ।। 10-13-8 ।।

english translation

जिस तरह पंखडिय़ों तथा पत्तियों से घिरा हुआ कोई कमल-पुष्प कोश हो उसी तरह बीच में कृष्ण बैठे थे और उन्हें घेर कर पंक्तियों में उनके मित्र बैठे थे। वे सभी अत्यन्त सुन्दर लग रहे थे। उनमें से हर बालक यह सोच कर कृष्ण की ओर देखने का प्रयास कर रहा था कि शायद कृष्ण भी उसकी ओर देखें। इस तरह उन सबों ने जंगल में भोजन का आनन्द लिया। ।। १०-१३-८ ।।

केचित्पुष्पैर्दलैः केचित्पल्लवैरङ्कुरैः फलैः । शिग्भिस्त्वग्भिर्दृषद्भिश्च बुभुजुः कृतभाजनाः ।। १०-१३-९ ।।

sanskrit

Among the cowherd boys, some placed their lunch on flowers, some on leaves, fruits, or bunches of leaves, some actually in their baskets, some on the bark of trees and some on rocks. This is what the children imagined to be their plates as they ate their lunch. ।। 10-13-9 ।।

english translation

ग्वालबालों में से किसी ने अपना भोजन फूलों पर, किसी ने पत्तियों, फलों या पत्तों के गुच्छों पर, किसी ने वास्तव में ही अपनी डलिया में, तो किसी ने पेड़ की खाल पर तथा किसी ने चट्टानों पर रख लिया। बालकों ने खाते समय इन्हें ही अपनी प्लेटें (थालियाँ) मान लिया। ।। १०-१३-९ ।।

सर्वे मिथो दर्शयन्तः स्वस्वभोज्यरुचिं पृथक् । हसन्तो हासयन्तश्चाभ्यवजह्रुः सहेश्वराः ।। १०-१३-१० ।।

All the cowherd boys enjoyed their lunch with Kṛṣṇa, showing one another the different tastes of the different varieties of preparations they had brought from home. Tasting one another’s preparations, they began to laugh and make one another laugh. ।। 10-13-10 ।।

english translation

अपने अपने घर से लाये गये भोजन की किस्मों के भिन्न भिन्न स्वादों को एक-दूसरे को बतलाते हुए सारे ग्वालों ने कृष्ण के साथ भोजन का आनन्द लिया। वे एक-दूसरे का भोजन चख-चख कर हँसने तथा हँसाने लगे। ।। १०-१३-१० ।।
