अग्नेर्यथा दारुवियोगयोगयोरदृष्टतोऽन्यन्न निमित्तमस्ति । एवं हि जन्तोरपि दुर्विभाव्यः शरीरसंयोगवियोगहेतुः ॥ १०-१-५१ ॥
When a fire, for some unseen reason, leaps over one piece of wood and sets fire to the next, the reason is destiny. Similarly, when a living being accepts one kind of body and leaves aside another, there is no other reason than unseen destiny. ॥ 10-1-51 ॥

जब किसी अदृश्य कारण से आग लकड़ी के एक टुकड़े से लपक कर दूसरे खंड को जला देती है, तो इसका कारण प्रारब्ध है। इसी तरह जब जीव एक प्रकार का शरीर स्वीकार करके दूसरे का परित्याग करता है, तो इसमें अदृश्य प्रारब्ध के अतिरिक्त कोई अन्य कारण नहीं होता। ॥ १०-१-५१ ॥

एवं विमृश्य तं पापं यावदात्मनिदर्शनम् । पूजयामास वै शौरिर्बहुमानपुरःसरम् ॥ १०-१-५२ ॥
After thus considering the matter as far as his knowledge would allow, Vasudeva submitted his proposal to the sinful Kaṁsa with great respect. ॥ 10-1-52 ॥

इस तरह इस विषय पर अपनी बुद्धिसे भरपूर विचार करने के बाद वसुदेव ने पापी कंस के समक्ष बड़े ही आदरपूर्वक अपना प्रस्ताव रखा। ॥ १०-१-५२ ॥

प्रसन्नवदनाम्भोजो नृशंसं निरपत्रपम् । मनसा दूयमानेन विहसन्निदमब्रवीत् ॥ १०-१-५३ ॥
Vasudeva’s mind was full of anxiety because his wife was facing danger, but in order to please the cruel, shameless and sinful Kaṁsa, he externally smiled and spoke to him as follows. ॥ 10-1-53 ॥

वसुदेव का मन चिन्ता से पूर्ण था क्योंकि उनकी पत्नी संकट में थीं, किन्तु क्रूर, निर्लज्ज तथा पापी कंस को प्रसन्न करने के उद्देश्य से बनावटी हँसी लाते हुए वे इस प्रकार बोले। ॥ १०-१-५३ ॥

वसुदेव उवाच न ह्यस्यास्ते भयं सौम्य यद्वागाहाशरीरिणी । पुत्रान् समर्पयिष्येऽस्या यतस्ते भयमुत्थितम् ॥ १०-१-५४ ॥
Vasudeva said: O best of the sober, you have nothing to fear from your sister Devakī because of what you have heard from the unseen omen. The cause of death will be her sons. Therefore I promise that when she gives birth to the sons from whom your fear has arisen, I shall deliver them all unto your hands. ॥ 10-1-54 ॥

वसुदेव ने कहा : हे भद्र-श्रेष्ठ, तुमने अदृश्यवाणी से जो भी सुना है उसके लिए तुम्हें अपनी बहन देवकी से तनिक भी डरने की कोई बात नहीं है। तुम्हारी मृत्यु का कारण उसके पुत्र होंगे अत: मैं तुम्हें वचन देता हूँ कि जब उसके पुत्र उत्पन्न होंगे, जिनसे तुम्हें डर है, तो उन सबको लाकर मैं तुम्हें सौंप दिया करूँगा। ॥ १०-१-५४ ॥

श्रीशुक उवाच स्वसुर्वधान्निववृते कंसस्तद्वाक्यसारवित् । वसुदेवोऽपि तं प्रीतः प्रशस्य प्राविशद्गृहम् ॥ १०-१-५५ ॥
Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: Kaṁsa agreed to the logical arguments of Vasudeva, and, having full faith in Vasudeva’s words, he refrained from killing his sister. Vasudeva, being pleased with Kaṁsa, pacified him further and entered his own house. ॥ 10-1-55 ॥

श्री शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने आगे कहा : कंस वसुदेव के तर्कों से सहमत हो गया और वसुदेव के वचनों पर पूरा भरोसा करके उसने अपनी बहन को मारने का विचार छोड़ दिया। वसुदेव ने कंस से प्रसन्न होकर उसे और भी सान्त्वना दी और अपने घर में प्रवेश किया। ॥ १०-१-५५ ॥
