वसुदेव उवाच न ह्यस्यास्ते भयं सौम्य यद्वागाहाशरीरिणी । पुत्रान् समर्पयिष्येऽस्या यतस्ते भयमुत्थितम् ।। १०-१-५४ ।।

sanskrit

Vasudeva said: O best of the sober, you have nothing to fear from your sister Devakī because of what you have heard from the unseen omen. The cause of death will be her sons. Therefore I promise that when she gives birth to the sons from whom your fear has arisen, I shall deliver them all unto your hands. ।। 10-1-54 ।।

english translation

वसुदेव ने कहा : हे भद्र-श्रेष्ठ, तुमने अदृश्यवाणी से जो भी सुना है उसके लिए तुम्हें अपनी बहन देवकी से तनिक भी डरने की कोई बात नहीं है। तुम्हारी मृत्यु का कारण उसके पुत्र होंगे अत: मैं तुम्हें वचन देता हूँ कि जब उसके पुत्र उत्पन्न होंगे, जिनसे तुम्हें डर है, तो उन सबको लाकर मैं तुम्हें सौंप दिया करूँगा। ।। १०-१-५४ ।।
