रद॑त्प॒थो वरु॑ण॒: सूर्या॑य॒ प्रार्णां॑सि समु॒द्रिया॑ न॒दीना॑म् । सर्गो॒ न सृ॒ष्टो अर्व॑तीॠता॒यञ्च॒कार॑ म॒हीर॒वनी॒रह॑भ्यः ॥ रदत्पथो वरुणः सूर्याय प्रार्णांसि समुद्रिया नदीनाम् । सर्गो न सृष्टो अर्वतीॠतायञ्चकार महीरवनीरहभ्यः ॥

Varuṇa prepared a path for the sun; he set free the waters of the rivers genitive rated in the firmament;hastening (to his task), as a horse let loose rushes to (a flock of) mares, he divided the great nights from the days.

आ॒त्मा ते॒ वातो॒ रज॒ आ न॑वीनोत्प॒शुर्न भूर्णि॒र्यव॑से सस॒वान् । अ॒न्तर्म॒ही बृ॑ह॒ती रोद॑सी॒मे विश्वा॑ ते॒ धाम॑ वरुण प्रि॒याणि॑ ॥ आत्मा ते वातो रज आ नवीनोत्पशुर्न भूर्णिर्यवसे ससवान् । अन्तर्मही बृहती रोदसीमे विश्वा ते धाम वरुण प्रियाणि ॥

Your spirit is the wind; he sends abroad the waters; he, the cherisher of the world, is the feeder on(ssacrificial) food, like an animal upon fodder; all your glories, Varuṇa, manifested between the vast andspacious heaven and earth, give delight (to all).

A॒tmA te॒ vAto॒ raja॒ A na॑vInotpa॒zurna bhUrNi॒ryava॑se sasa॒vAn | a॒ntarma॒hI bR॑ha॒tI roda॑sI॒me vizvA॑ te॒ dhAma॑ varuNa pri॒yANi॑ || AtmA te vAto raja A navInotpazurna bhUrNiryavase sasavAn | antarmahI bRhatI rodasIme vizvA te dhAma varuNa priyANi ||

परि॒ स्पशो॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ स्मदि॑ष्टा उ॒भे प॑श्यन्ति॒ रोद॑सी सु॒मेके॑ । ऋ॒तावा॑नः क॒वयो॑ य॒ज्ञधी॑रा॒: प्रचे॑तसो॒ य इ॒षय॑न्त॒ मन्म॑ ॥ परि स्पशो वरुणस्य स्मदिष्टा उभे पश्यन्ति रोदसी सुमेके । ऋतावानः कवयो यज्ञधीराः प्रचेतसो य इषयन्त मन्म ॥

The excellent spies of Varuṇa behold the beautiful heaven and earth, as well as those (men) who, thecelebrators of rites, constant in sacrifice, wise and intelligent address (to him their) praise.

pari॒ spazo॒ varu॑Nasya॒ smadi॑STA u॒bhe pa॑zyanti॒ roda॑sI su॒meke॑ | R॒tAvA॑naH ka॒vayo॑ ya॒jJadhI॑rA॒: prace॑taso॒ ya i॒Saya॑nta॒ manma॑ || pari spazo varuNasya smadiSTA ubhe pazyanti rodasI sumeke | RtAvAnaH kavayo yajJadhIrAH pracetaso ya iSayanta manma ||

उ॒वाच॑ मे॒ वरु॑णो॒ मेधि॑राय॒ त्रिः स॒प्त नामाघ्न्या॑ बिभर्ति । वि॒द्वान्प॒दस्य॒ गुह्या॒ न वो॑चद्यु॒गाय॒ विप्र॒ उप॑राय॒ शिक्ष॑न् ॥ उवाच मे वरुणो मेधिराय त्रिः सप्त नामाघ्न्या बिभर्ति । विद्वान्पदस्य गुह्या न वोचद्युगाय विप्र उपराय शिक्षन् ॥

Varuṇa thus spoke to me, possessed of understanding; the cow (speech) has thrice sevenappellations; the wise and intelligent Varuṇa, giving instrumental uction to me, his worthy disciple, had declared the mysteries of the place (of Brahma).

english translation

u॒vAca॑ me॒ varu॑No॒ medhi॑rAya॒ triH sa॒pta nAmAghnyA॑ bibharti | vi॒dvAnpa॒dasya॒ guhyA॒ na vo॑cadyu॒gAya॒ vipra॒ upa॑rAya॒ zikSa॑n || uvAca me varuNo medhirAya triH sapta nAmAghnyA bibharti | vidvAnpadasya guhyA na vocadyugAya vipra uparAya zikSan ||

ति॒स्रो द्यावो॒ निहि॑ता अ॒न्तर॑स्मिन्ति॒स्रो भूमी॒रुप॑रा॒: षड्वि॑धानाः । गृत्सो॒ राजा॒ वरु॑णश्चक्र ए॒तं दि॒वि प्रे॒ङ्खं हि॑र॒ण्ययं॑ शु॒भे कम् ॥ तिस्रो द्यावो निहिता अन्तरस्मिन्तिस्रो भूमीरुपराः षड्विधानाः । गृत्सो राजा वरुणश्चक्र एतं दिवि प्रेङ्खं हिरण्ययं शुभे कम् ॥

In him are deposited the three heavens, the three earths with their six seasons are shown in him; themost adorable, royal Varuṇa has made this golden sun undulating in the sky, he has made it to diffuse light.
