तां पुरीं तादृशीं दृष्ट्वा दुराधर्षां सुरासुरैः । हनुमान् चिन्तयामास विनिश्चित्य मुहुर्मुहुः ॥ ५-२-३६
Looking at the city, unassailable even to gods and demons, Hanuman sighed again and again thinking ॥ 5-2-36॥

tAM purIM tAdRzIM dRSTvA durAdharSAM surAsuraiH । hanumAn cintayAmAsa vinizcitya muhurmuhuH ॥ 5-2-36
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकेनोपायेन पश्येयं मैथिलीं जनकात्मजाम् । अदृष्टो राक्षसेन्द्रेण रावणेन दुरात्मना ॥ ५-२-३७
- 'By what means can I find Maithili, daughter of Janaka, without being noticed by the evil-minded Ravana, the lord of demons? ॥ 5-2-37॥
english translation
kenopAyena pazyeyaM maithilIM janakAtmajAm । adRSTo rAkSasendreNa rAvaNena durAtmanA ॥ 5-2-37
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन विनश्येत्कथं कार्यं रामस्य विदितात्मनः । एकामेकश्च वश्येयं रहिते जनकात्मजाम् ॥ ५-२-३८
'How can the purpose of Rama, a noble soul be not spoilt and I may have a private audience with the daughter of Janaka. ॥ 5-2-38॥
english translation
na vinazyetkathaM kAryaM rAmasya viditAtmanaH । ekAmekazca vazyeyaM rahite janakAtmajAm ॥ 5-2-38
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभूताश्चार्था विपद्यन्ते देशकालविरोधिताः । विक्लबं दूतमासाद्य तमः सूर्योदये यथा ॥ ५-२-३९
'Just as darkness disappears at Sunrise, wellplanned strategies also fail at the hands of a thoughtless messenger when they are set in opposition to proper time and place. ॥ 5-2-39॥
english translation
bhUtAzcArthA vipadyante dezakAlavirodhitAH । viklabaM dUtamAsAdya tamaH sUryodaye yathA ॥ 5-2-39
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअर्थानर्थान्तरे बुद्धिर्निश्चितापि न शोभते । घातयन्ति हि कार्याणि दूताः पण्डितमानिनः ॥ ५-२-४०
'Even though messengers are not intelligent, they think themselves clever and capable. They act foolishly, swerve from proper course of action and fail in their effort. ॥ 5-2-40॥

arthAnarthAntare buddhirnizcitApi na zobhate । ghAtayanti hi kAryANi dUtAH paNDitamAninaH ॥ 5-2-40
