तस्मै दत्त्वा तदा सिद्धं सर्वं विप्राय निश्चितः । निःषेषितेऽन्ने भगवानभुक्त्वैव महातपाः ॥ १-६५-६
This mighty, godly ascetic decided to give all the cooked meal to the Brahmin. The brahmin finished all the food. He ( Vishvaamitra ) went without food . - [1-65-6]
english translation
न किंचिदवदद्विप्रं मौनव्रतमुपास्थितः । तथैवासीत्पुनः मौनमनुच्छ्वासं चकार ह ॥ १-६५-७
- but did not utter a single word to the brahmin as he was abided by his a vow of silence. Thereafter the distinguished ascetic again practised austerities in muteness and breath-control. [1-65-7]
english translation
अथ वर्षसहस्रं च नोच्छ्वसन्मुनिपुंगवः । तस्यानुच्छ्वसमानस्य मूर्ध्नि धूमो व्यजायत ॥ १-६५-८
That eminent saint remained without respiration for another thousand years. While his breath, was suspended, fumes emanated from his head . - [1-65-8]
english translation
त्रैलोक्यं येन संभ्रांतमातापितमिवाभवत् । ततो देवर्षिगन्धर्वाः पन्नगोरगराक्षसाः ॥ १-६५-९
- which frightened the three worlds. It appeared as though they were on fire. Thereupon devatas along with gandharvas, pannagas, uragas, and rakshasas - [1-65-9]
english translation
मोहिता तपसा तस्य तेजसा मंदरश्मयः । कश्मलोपहताः सर्वे पितामहमथाब्रुवन् ॥ १-६५-१०
- stood bewildered by his ascetic energy. Their own glory was dimmed in his lustre". Afflicted with anguish, they spoke to the Grandfather (Brahma): [1-65-10]
