ततस्तेषां नरव्याघ्र बुद्धिरासीन्महात्मनाम् । अमरा निर्जराश्चैव कथं स्यामो निरामयाः ॥ १-४५-१६
Oh ! tigerly-man, Rama, then those great-souls speculated as to 'how we can thrive without ageing, illness, and likewise without death.' ॥ 1-45-16॥
english translation
tatasteSAM naravyAghra buddhirAsInmahAtmanAm । amarA nirjarAzcaiva kathaM syAmo nirAmayAH ॥ 1-45-16
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषां चिंतयतां तत्र बुद्धिरासीद्विपश्चिताम् । क्षीरोदमथनं कृत्वा रसं प्राप्स्याम तत्र वै ॥ १-४५-१७
Oh ! Rama While the noble sons were reflecting over this matter, an idea flashed across their minds to get nectar by churning the Milky Ocean. ॥ 1-45-17॥
english translation
teSAM ciMtayatAM tatra buddhirAsIdvipazcitAm । kSIrodamathanaM kRtvA rasaM prApsyAma tatra vai ॥ 1-45-17
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो निश्चित्य मथनं योक्त्रं कृत्वा च वासुकिम् । मन्थानं मन्दरं कृत्वा ममन्थुरमितौजसः ॥ १-४५-१८
Deciding upon to churn the Milky Ocean, then made Vasuki ( Thousand-headed, King of Snakes ) as the churning rope and Mt. Mandara as stirrer and those brothers whose energy was unlimited started churning the Milky Ocean thoroughly. ॥ 1-45-18॥
english translation
tato nizcitya mathanaM yoktraM kRtvA ca vAsukim । manthAnaM mandaraM kRtvA mamanthuramitaujasaH ॥ 1-45-18
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ वर्षसहस्रेण योक्त्रं सर्पशिरांसि च । वमन्त्यतिविषं तत्र ददंशुर्दशनैः शिलाः ॥ १-४५-१९
After a thousand years, the Thousand-headed serpent Vaasuki, which was being used as churning rope,was incapacitated to bear the friction of churning and fanged the cliffs of Mt. Mandara. Thereby a great lot of venom was disgorged from the heads of that serpent Vaasuki, which venom on melting the rocks of Mt. Mandara became the holocaustic poison called haalaahala. ॥ 1-45-19॥

atha varSasahasreNa yoktraM sarpazirAMsi ca । vamantyativiSaM tatra dadaMzurdazanaiH zilAH ॥ 1-45-19
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउत्पपाताग्निसंकाशं हालाहलमहाविषम् । तेन दग्धं जगत्सर्वं सदेवासुरमानुषम् ॥ १-४५-२०
Therefrom a lethal poison similar to inferno known as haalaahala has started to fulminate. By which the entire universe consisting of devatas, asuras and mortals was burnt down. ॥ 1-45-20॥

utpapAtAgnisaMkAzaM hAlAhalamahAviSam । tena dagdhaM jagatsarvaM sadevAsuramAnuSam ॥ 1-45-20
