- "O Distinguished ascetic, which royal dynasty is ruling this city of Vishala? Could you tell me? Great is my curiosity. May you prosper". [1-45-12]

Oh ! Rama, "I will tell you about the auspicious legend of Indra as I was told, and you listen to it as I tell. Oh ! Raghava, indeed you may now listen to the quintessence of what has happened in this country". [1-45-14]

zrUyatAM rAma zakrasya kathAM kathayataH zrutAm | asmin deze hi yadvRttaM zRNu tattvena rAghava || 1-45-14

पूर्वं कृतयुगे राम दितेः पुत्रा महाबलाः | अदितेश्च महाभागा वीर्यवन्तः सुधार्मिकाः || १-४५-१५

Once in Krita era ( Satyuga ), oh, Rama, the sons of Lady Diti were extremely energetic, whereas the sons of her younger sister Lady Aditi were vigorous and highly righteous. [1-45-15]

pUrvaM kRtayuge rAma diteH putrA mahAbalAH | aditezca mahAbhAgA vIryavantaH sudhArmikAH || 1-45-15
