अनेन याचमानेन शत्रुणा वटुरूपिणा । सर्वस्वं नो हृतं भर्तुर्न्यस्तदण्डस्य बर्हिषि ॥ ८-२१-११ ॥
“Our lord, Bali Mahārāja, because of his position in performing the yajña, has given up the power to punish. Taking advantage of this, our eternal enemy, Viṣṇu, dressed in the form of a brahmacārī beggar, has taken away all his possessions. ॥ 8-21-11 ।।

हमारे स्वामी बलि महाराज यज्ञ करने की स्थिति में होने के कारण दण्ड देने की अपनी शक्ति त्याग बैठे हैं। इसका लाभ उठाकर हमारे शाश्वत शत्रु विष्णु ने ब्रह्मचारी भिखारी के वेश में उनका सर्वस्व छीन लिया है। ॥ ८-२१-११ ॥

सत्यव्रतस्य सततं दीक्षितस्य विशेषतः । नानृतं भाषितुं शक्यं ब्रह्मण्यस्य दयावतः ॥ ८-२१-१२ ॥
“Our lord, Bali Mahārāja, is always fixed in truthfulness, and this is especially so at present, since he has been initiated into performing a sacrifice. He is always kind and merciful toward the brāhmaṇas, and he cannot at any time speak lies. ॥ 8-21-12 ।।

हमारे स्वामी बलि महाराज सदैव सत्य पर दृढ़ रहते हैं और इस समय तो विशेष रूप से क्योंकि उन्हें यज्ञ करने के लिए दीक्षा दी गई है। वे ब्राह्मणों के प्रति सदैव दयालु तथा सदय रहते हैं और कभी भी झूठ नहीं बोल सकते। ॥ ८-२१-१२ ॥

तस्मादस्य वधो धर्मो भर्तुः शुश्रूषणं च नः । इत्यायुधानि जगृहुर्बलेरनुचरासुराः ॥ ८-२१-१३ ॥
“Therefore it is our duty to kill this Vāmanadeva, Lord Viṣṇu. It is our religious principle and the way to serve our master.” After making this decision, the demoniac followers of Mahārāja Bali took up their various weapons with a view to killing Vāmanadeva. ॥ 8-21-13 ।।

अतएव इस वामनदेव भगवान् विष्णु को मार डालना हमारा कर्तव्य है। यह हमारा धर्म है और अपने स्वामी की सेवा करने का तरीका है। इस निर्णय के बाद महाराज बलि के असुर अनुयायियों ने वामनदेव को मारने के उद्देश्य से अपने-अपने हथियार उठा लिये। ॥ ८-२१-१३ ॥

ते सर्वे वामनं हन्तुं शूलपट्टिशपाणयः । अनिच्छतो बले राजन् प्राद्रवन् जातमन्यवः ॥ ८-२१-१४ ॥
O King, the demons, aggravated by their usual anger, took their lances and tridents in hand, and against the will of Bali Mahārāja they pushed forward to kill Lord Vāmanadeva. ॥ 8-21-14 ।।
english translation
हे राजा! असुरों का सामान्य क्रोध भडक़ उठा, उन्होंने अपने-अपने भाले तथा त्रिशूल अपने हाथों में ले लिये और बलि महाराज की इच्छा के विरुद्ध वे वामनदेव को मारने के लिए आगे बढ़ गये। ॥ ८-२१-१४ ॥

तानभिद्रवतो दृष्ट्वा दितिजानीकपान् नृप । प्रहस्यानुचरा विष्णोः प्रत्यषेधन्नुदायुधाः ॥ ८-२१-१५ ॥
O King, when the associates of Lord Viṣṇu saw the soldiers of the demons coming forward in violence, they smiled. Taking up their weapons, they forbade the demons to continue their attempt. ॥ 8-21-15 ।।
english translation
हे राजा! जब विष्णु के सहयोगियों ने देखा कि असुर सैनिक हिंसा पर उतारू होकर आगे बढ़े आ रहे हैं, तो वे हँसने लगे। उन्होंने अपने हथियार उठाते हुए असुरों को ऐसा प्रयत्न करने से मना किया। ॥ ८-२१-१५ ॥
