एवं वां तप्यतोस्तीव्रं तपः परमदुष्करम् । दिव्यवर्षसहस्राणि द्वादशेयुर्मदात्मनोः ॥ १०-३-३६ ॥
Thus you spent twelve thousand celestial years performing difficult activities of tapasya in consciousness of Me [Kṛṣṇa consciousness]. ॥ 10-3-36 ॥

इस तरह तुम दोनों ने मेरी चेतना (कृष्णभावना) में कठिन तपस्या करते हुए बारह हजार दिव्य वर्ष बिता दिए। ॥ १०-३-३६ ॥

तदा वां परितुष्टोऽहममुना वपुषानघे । तपसा श्रद्धया नित्यं भक्त्या च हृदि भावितः ॥ १०-३-३७ ॥
O sinless mother Devakī, after the expiry of twelve thousand celestial years, in which you constantly contemplated Me within the core of your heart with great faith, devotion and austerity, ॥ 10-3-37 ॥

हे निष्पाप माता देवकी, उन बारह हजार दिव्य वर्षों के बीत जाने पर, जिनमें तुम अपने हृदय में परम श्रद्धा, भक्ति तथा तपस्यापूर्वक निरन्तर मेरा ध्यान करती रही, ॥ १०-३-३७ ॥

प्रादुरासं वरदराड् युवयोः कामदित्सया । व्रियतां वर इत्युक्ते मादृशो वां वृतः सुतः ॥ १०-३-३८ ॥
I was very much satisfied with you. Since I am the best of all bestowers of benediction, I appeared in this same form as Kṛṣṇa to ask you to take from Me the benediction you desired. You then expressed your desire to have a son exactly like Me. ॥ 10-3-38 ॥

मैं तुम से अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हुआ था। चूँकि मैं वर देने वालों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ हूँ, अत: मैं इसी कृष्ण रूप में प्रकट हुआ कि तुम मनवाञ्छित वर माँगो। तब तुमने मेरे सदृश पुत्र-प्राप्ति की इच्छा प्रकट की थी। ॥ १०-३-३८ ॥

अजुष्टग्राम्यविषयावनपत्यौ च दम्पती । न वव्राथेऽपवर्गं मे मोहितौ मम मायया ॥ १०-३-३९ ॥
Being husband and wife but always sonless, you were attracted by sexual desires, for by the influence of devamāyā, transcendental love, you wanted to have Me as your son. Therefore you never desired to be liberated from this material world. ॥ 10-3-39 ॥

पति-पत्नी रूप में सन्तानहीन होने से आप लोग विषयी-जीवन के प्रति आकृष्ट हुए क्योंकि देवमाया के प्रभाव अर्थात् दिव्य प्रेम से तुम लोग मुझे अपने पुत्र के रूप में प्राप्त करना चाह रहे थे इसलिए तुम लोगों ने इस जगत से कभी भी मुक्त होना नहीं चाहा। ॥ १०-३-३९ ॥

गते मयि युवां लब्ध्वा वरं मत्सदृशं सुतम् । ग्राम्यान् भोगानभुञ्जाथां युवां प्राप्तमनोरथौ ॥ १०-३-४० ॥
After you received that benediction and I disappeared, you engaged yourselves in sex to have a son like Me, and I fulfilled your desire. ॥ 10-3-40 ॥

जब तुम वर प्राप्त कर चुके और मैं अन्तर्धान हो गया तो तुम मुझ जैसा पुत्र प्राप्त करने के उद्देश्य से विषयभोग में लग गए और मैंने तुम्हारी इच्छा पूरी कर दी। ॥ १०-३-४० ॥
