इति प्रवालस्तबकफलपुष्पदलोत्करैः । तरूणां नम्रशाखानां मध्येन यमुनां गतः ।। १०-२२-३६ ।।

sanskrit

Thus moving among the trees, whose branches were bent low by their abundance of twigs, fruits, flowers and leaves, Lord Kṛṣṇa came to the Yamunā River. ।। 10-22-36 ।।

english translation

इस तरह वृक्षों के बीच विचरण करते हुए, जिनकी शाखाएँ कोपलों, फलों, फूलों तथा पत्तियों की बहुलता से झुकी हुई थीं, भगवान् कृष्ण यमुना नदी के तट पर आ गये। ।। १०-२२-३७ ।।

तत्र गाः पाययित्वापः सुमृष्टाः शीतलाः शिवाः । ततो नृप स्वयं गोपाः कामं स्वादु पपुर्जलम् ।। १०-२२-३७ ।।

sanskrit

The cowherd boys let the cows drink the clear, cool and wholesome water of the Yamunā. O King Parīkṣit, the cowherd boys themselves also drank that sweet water to their full satisfaction. ।। 10-22-37 ।।

english translation

ग्वालों ने गौवों को यमुना नदी का स्वच्छ, शीतल तथा स्वास्थ्यप्रद जल पीने दिया। हे राजा परीक्षित, ग्वालों ने भी जी भरकर उस मधुर जल का पान किया। ।। १०-२२-३७ ।।

tatra gAH pAyayitvApaH sumRSTAH zItalAH zivAH | tato nRpa svayaM gopAH kAmaM svAdu papurjalam || 10-22-37 ||

तस्या उपवने कामं चारयन्तः पशून् नृप । कृष्णरामावुपागम्य क्षुधार्ता इदमब्रुवन् ।। १०-२२-३८ ।।

sanskrit

Then, O King, the cowherd boys began herding the animals in a leisurely way within a small forest along the Yamunā. But soon they became afflicted by hunger and, approaching Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, spoke as follows. ।। 10-22-38 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् हे राजन्, सारे ग्वालबाल यमुना के तट पर एक छोटे से जंगल में पशुओं को उन्मुक्त ढंग से चराने लगे। किन्तु शीघ्र ही भूख से त्रस्त होकर वे कृष्ण तथा बलराम के निकट जाकर इस प्रकार बोले। ।। १०-२२-३८ ।।

tasyA upavane kAmaM cArayantaH pazUn nRpa | kRSNarAmAvupAgamya kSudhArtA idamabruvan || 10-22-38 ||
